So, mchek is not working for airtel prepaid recharges?

I have been noticing a lot of tweets related to how mchek has stopped working for airtel prepaid recharges ever since the implementation of OTP system.

I had to recharge my airtel prepaid connection today and I decided to test it out.

Generated an OTP manually to ensure that I have it handy.

Applied for a recharge. Everything worked fine. Mchek sent me a request for the OTP. Sent a SMS with the OTP to 543219 as requested.

Transaction failed.

Blah.

Ended up using freecharge.in for the same. Cost 10 bucks extra. I never really use the coupons they send but would try to use at least one to make it worth it this time around.

This is very bad news though because I rely on mchek for recharge of the Delhi Gurgaon Express Toll Smart Tag. Would have to find out why mchek is not working. :(

Update: Called up Standard Chartered. Apparently the CVV number was not correct. This is sort of confusing. I currently have two active cards. Older one is expiring this month. Newer one has been delivered and is also enabled for the month of April 2011. I used the CVV number of the new card. Maybe, I would give it a test once again but with the CVV number of the old card.

Apple iPad 2 launches. Google Android Tablets are still messed up.

Steve Jobs surprised a lot of us by appearing on the stage to launch the second generation Apple iPad.

It goes on sale from March 11. Unlocked. Supports both CDMA and GSM networks. How cool and simple is that?

Google on the other hand has a mess on their hand with Motorola Xoom. Verizon only. Needs one month package activation to get the Wi-Fi working on it. Prices are confusing.

If I want to buy an Android 3.0 Tablet today, I still have no solid option sitting here in India. The Android smartphones I have owned have both been Nexus branded. Sadly, the Xoom has turned into a mess and I would have to wait for another Google supported device.

All I want is a GSM 3G based Android 3.0 loaded Tablet PC that is supported by Google on the software side…

Dell India sends me a spammy SMS

Dell India sends me a spammy SMS

The content:

Dear Cust, your system’s warranty is expires on 24-Oct-09. Kindly contact Dell @ 18004259047, Mon-Fri , with the S.Tag:B2CJ2BS for more information.

Well, I do own this laptop. Warranty has indeed expired. But that was way back in 2009. The laptop is currently lying useless at my place because of some issues in the display. I am not getting it fixed because of the high costs involved when you have to go through the official channel.

The problems with these SMS messages are several:

1. I never subscribed for such alerts from Dell.
2. The message does not really say what it is for.
3. The language is messy and has grammatical errors.
4. They want me to call them! I mean wtf.
5. And so on…

The message originated from LM-Dell. So I assume that they are sending it through Loop Mobile in Mumbai.

PS. I am facing some issues with the ultra expensive Dell LCD Monitor I have. But looking at the mess they have created in India, I am avoiding contacting them for this too.

(Even if I ignore the SMS lingo, they still manage to spell believes wrong)

They do not provide their services in Gurgaon. They do not have rights to provide 3G in Delhi NCR region. They should probably just shut up on Twitter.

Update:

Alright. They apologized.

@Sushubh @Yo_Bala Guys sry 2 barge in2 the conversation, apologies 4 suggesting R services when U R in Gurgaon. Any other issues?

Ironies of our times

Congress is having some event in Delhi which is causing major problems for the people living in the city.

At least one person has already lost his life due to these events (allegedly).

Ironies of our times

I am not sure what to make of it.

On the other hand… Sachin Tendulkar scored his fiftieth Test Century. But… India lost the test match. But we are still celebrating. I guess losing a test is not a big deal when you get to compare Tendulkar with Bradman and decide the winner.

Is this how you build your house?

Is this how you build your house?

Noticed this on the road in front of my home here in Gurgaon. As you can see the material lying on the road makes it impossible for a car to pass through.

The crappier part was that the other side of the road was blocked by a locked gate.

The gate has been put on by the people living in this lane. In fact, my dad had to pay the money they collected for these gates unwillingly.

The gate is probably illegal if HUDA rules are to be believed.
