Three Idiots Review!

So, I saw Three Idiots last night. Aamir Khan continues to remain in a preaching mode. Rang De Basanti talked about how to (or not to!) protest against the mess created by the government. Taare Zameen Par was about how not to treat small kids who are studying in schools. And 3 Idiots is all about how not to handle your child’s future when he enters the college.

Rang De Basanti

Oh well, we did manage to get tickets for this new movie of Aamir Khan. We were surprised indeed considering we reached pretty late and their was enough crowd around to make us believe that the show would be houseful.

The sad point was that I knew the story of the movie… so it was not that much fun for me. The movie raises a valid point, which was well covered in a recent movie from Mani Ratnam, Yuva. You can change the country for the better in two ways. Similar to what happened during the independence. Their was Gandhi who followed the path of non-violence. And then their was this other group of extemists who believed that violence was the way to go…

The movie showcases the other point of view but does manage to reflect that this might not be the best way out. There are traces of history deeply integrated in the storyline of the movie, which gets irritating at times. But it is a lot better product when we compare the last one of Aamir Khan.

Rang De Basanti

The first part is delicious and reminds me of the good times in Dil Chahta Hai. The second part is sad and gloomy like it was again in DCH. But the storyline is all about patriotism, which has now become a clichéd subject for filmmakers. The storyline mocks the BJP and RSS philosophy and probably is based in their times of governance. Perhaps, this is the reason why it managed to get permission to release despite containing a huge propaganda against the defense ministry of India and the MIG planes.

You should perhaps go and see this movie as I would probably go and see it again. The sound track is amazing and the picturisation is fantastic. The story has certain flaws but then it is hard to make a perfect movie in today’s times. It is interesting that the film was stuck for the weirdest of reasons of using a couple of animals in certain scenes. There are more shocking instances in the movie, which should have got this movie into trouble. It did however with the air force and other branches of Indian military forces.

But, the point is valid and there are enough reasons to give serious thoughts on how and why Mig planes keep on crashing on regular basis. The Indian air force would be hoping that no plane crashes during the time this picture stays in halls and people are reminded of the storyline of the movie!
