Google needs to do something about the import feature of Blogger

Google has this great blogging platform in Blogger but they are hardly doing anything to make it easy for people to switch from rival blogging platforms to theirs.

I mean they do a pretty good job at data liberation. It is very easy to migrate from Blogger to WordPress but doing a reverse is a major headache.

WordPress too makes it very easy to export your blog content to a XML file. Blogger has a feature that accepts an XML file for importing blogs. But the two formats are incompatible.

There is a third party service available that converts WordPress XML file to Blogger XML file but it does not support files larger than 1MB in size. And most of the times the file exported is not even accepted by Blogger.

The new Blogger is a pretty solid alternative to WordPress and Google would probably attract a lot of people from WordPress if only they offer a solid importing tool.

Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer lacks the Google +1 button

It is literally stupid. Google just recently launched an updated version of Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer users.

It comes with a stupid new bar that appears at the bottom named Google Related.

But they forgot to add a +1 button to the toolbar.

This would have made it extremely easy for Internet Explorer users to give a +1 to any web page. Currently we have to rely on the search result pages or an embedded button.

There are unofficial extensions available for different browsers. Google however has not cared to launch their own official ones.

Standard Chartered India has a mobile app!

Though it is named Breeze India (!) and requires Adobe Air to be installed on Google Android.

Such a wonderful bank. It cannot provide a native app that does not require a third party component that a lot of us would love to keep away from our phones.

Reviews are fun to read… I got rid of it as soon as it asked me to install Adobe Air. No thank you.

Do us a favor… Create a mobile website instead. And hire a better tech company to manage your backend.

System requirements? Breeze works on devices with Android v2.2 (and above) running on a 1-GHz processor. Neat!

Blogger in Draft gives me bX-1qegvo error everywhere

I have a couple of old blogs connected to my Blogger account. I use Blogger in Draft because I am usually more interested in the new features introduced by Google then using it to blog.

Blogger in Draft recently got the new dashboard and since then I have not been able to access my blogs.

Trying to open any of the older blogs give me bX-1qegvo error. I created a new blog and it seems to work fine.

Not sure what Google is doing. I have seen a similar error in the past when I was trying to import a backup to a blog. I found the solution to that problem by doing extensive googling. This new bug seems to be connected to Draft in Blogger and might take a while to get resolved.
