My Google waiting list continues to grow…

Google Plus was launched today. And they have an invite system.

I guess Google realized that an invite system is a much safer way to launch a service to keep the interest going in the platform. Google Buzz was opened for everyone and it flopped. But then Google Wave had an invite system and it still flopped.

This is now the latest of Google services that I am waiting to get activated on my account.

I am still waiting for Google to deliver the new Blogger Dashboard on my account and I am still waiting to get access to the People Widget on Gmail.

Of course, a lot of us are also waiting for the new HTML5 powered Offline Gmail to arrive.

Airtel Wave

Airtel has officially named their new logo Wave…

I was a big fan of Google Wave during the time it was being developed at a rapid pace. I wonder whether Airtel know what happened to that Wave!

Then we have Samsung Wave which is doing good in its own way but still has nothing on its Android loaded siblings!

So, Google is dumping Google Wave.

This has been one of the most disappointing news coming out from the search engine giant.

Google has killed a variety of services in the past. But the killing of Google Wave has been one of the most disappointing one.

Google Wave was a pretty revolutionary product. It pushed the limits of the web browsers so much that I used to find it hard to use on a dual core processor.

I had little use for it considering I do not usually work in a collaborative environment. But it was always good to know that such a tool existed.

Google Buzz feels like a subset of Google Wave. I expected Google to include some of the features of Wave in their Buzz service. Now that Wave is dead, that could happen in the near future.

I still believe that Google Wave could have survived and prospered if it was made part of their paid Google Apps offering that is aimed at organizations and companies.

But Google took too long to make it available to general public. And that led to its demise.
