Opera’s new bloaty outlook
So, I was stuck on EDGE connectivity for a while on my phone. I was trying to load a page but as expected it sucked in Chrome. I decided to try out Opera Browser and well, turned out, it was not going to work for me as well.
What they are doing with their new Blink based version is that users get a personalized home screen. Which takes a while to generate when you start the browser for the first time. As a result, I was staring at this screen when I just wanted to load a damn web page on it.
Should have stayed with Opera Mini.
The new Yahoo app for Google Android is well… Not available to me.
Yahoo launched their new mobile app featuring the technologies acquired from Summly.
The problem? It is not available for me as a user here in India. I assume that the app is currently restricted to USA only.
A company as big as Yahoo should not have their primary app region restricted even if it is brand new.
Anyways.

Freaking stupid Yahoo Weather app for Google Android
I had heard good reviews about it so I gave it a try. Took me two minutes to realize that it was a piece of shite that should not exist on my phone. First it looks terrible. Poor copy of iOS design elements. And it does not even use proper Android UI guidelines where it tries not to mimic Apple iOS.
Here are some screenshots:
Looks like a crappy version of the Samsung TouchWiz.
Seriously?
This is the first screen you see. Fugly.
And the beautiful sharing menu.
Shows Sign Out as the default option even if you have not signed-in.
And the primary reason why I had to get rid of it. GPS stayed on even when the app was not running in focus.
