Google+ is to Facebook what Chrome was to Firefox!

Now that I have seen and used Google Plus, I can safely say one thing. It replaces Facebook for me. (Me on Google Plus).

It reminds me of the time when I had to use Firefox because I had no other good option. And then Chrome arrived and enabled me to get rid of Firefox.

Facebook is hard to avoid these days if you are running a bunch of sites relying on traffic from the social media. But Google+ ensures that I now have a solid alternative to stay in touch with my online friends.

Knowing Google, they are likely to add features at a much faster pace. And future looks very interesting for Google’s social ambitions.

Google +1 is all set to launch for web publishers

Update: Google +1 Button has launched. Click +1 above to +1 this post! DUH.

Starting tomorrow, you are likely to see a new shiny button on pretty much every webpage you visit.

Google is expected to launch their Google +1 button for web publishers later today. Google +1 is used as a major criterion for ranking on people who are connected to you.

This feature alone makes it a must have button on your webpages. Your link could have hundreds of tweets or Facebook Likes but in the longer run, you had like your web pages to rank better on Google search result pages.

I like Google +1 over the Twitter and Facebook sharing buttons for a simple reason… You can use it without worrying about bothering your friends and followers. Any link you +1 is going to be added to a list visible only to you on your Google profile. But it would not be pushed to your friends.

Sharing links on Facebook and Twitter could become annoying for your contacts. Share too many in a short duration and you are likely to get bombarded with complaints. Google +1 does not have that problem. It works as a passive recommendation tool. Your friends would get your +1 links in priority on their web searches. This is pretty cool.

Facebook Mobile is better than Facebook for Android

There have been no doubts about the fact that the official Facebook mobile app for the Android platform sucks.

Facebook has been updating the app with new functionality but it still comes nowhere near to the official app for the iOS platform.

Even the recently updated Facebook Mobile accessible from the web browser is more useful.

Everything I tested seems to work great. Messages, Fan Pages and Groups. Even Places.

I am almost considering removing the Facebook app from my phone. I am not a heavy user of Facebook and I can easily switch to the web edition for the times I use it.

Facebook Mail and Support Queries

I just got access to Facebook Mail earlier today. I have been playing around with it and I like it.

However, it seems to have failed in a real world test.

I sent a support query to mchek. They responded with an auto-response that is supposed to be connected to the query I raised.

For this mail chain to work properly, mchek requires the subject of the mail to contain the ticket number in a particular format.

And from my experience and tests, Facebook tends to follow with their own design which does not allow you to have a custom subject.

The test however passed as mchek guys called me up and resolved my problem on the phone itself.

Victory to good customer support! Freecharge folks’ loss as they are not supporting airtel recharges currently. What a freaking disappointment.

Things I am waiting for!

This list is pretty crappy. But I wanted to jot down the stuff I am waiting for!
