So, election results came out day before and the government did not waste another day in announcing a major hike in the price of petrol.
It is up by around Rs. 5. This comes to around 9%. This is insane.
I believe in some places, you would be paying close to around Rs. 70 per liter of petrol. Maybe more.
I switched to diesel cars around 3 years ago because I was tired of dealing with the regular hike in petrol prices. Diesel is usually spared as it is used by public transport. It won’t be long before they start targeting diesel as well.
What is the next best option? There is none. Public transport sucks. Hiring a private auto or car costs a lot more. the government continues to claim that oil companies are still losing money and another price hike is coming up. They would not lower the taxes that pretty much double the retail pricing of petrol. The money oil companies is supposedly losing is what they are paying to the government itself. Just fix the damn taxation structure. Control inflation. Let people live their lives.
I was coming back from Delhi last night and I was running out of fuel. :D
I was pretty sure that I would reach Gurgaon ‘comfortably’ but Somanshu made me fill the tank in Delhi itself.
The first news I heard after the election results is that the government is considering hiking the price of petrol and diesel.
So, petrol is cheaper by Rs. 5. This means the prices have gone down by Rs. 10 in the recent times.
Diesel is cheaper by Rs. 2 and LPG is cheaper by Rs. 25.
Great. Government fails us once again. Truckers go on strike. The Indian government implements ESMA. No use.
Crude Oil prices are now around USD 80 per barrel. Do we hear the oil companies saying anything about a possible price cut? Nope.
If it was USD 180 per barrel, the entire government would have been talking about the huge losses oil companies are making and how they need to increase the price of petrol and diesel and LPG.
Read in the news that the CNG Kit dealers are getting too many calls these days from people who want to get the kit installed to save money in the long run on car fuel.
I hope the government takes some steps to make sure that unauthorized kits are not available in the market which can be less safe and cause major accidents.
I saw your national telecast justifying the hike in the fuel prices.
Since we have no other alternative but to pay for the fuel… I guess I would not complain about that.
But I have other things to complain about.
