Dell India sends me a spammy SMS

The content:

Dear Cust, your system’s warranty is expires on 24-Oct-09. Kindly contact Dell @ 18004259047, Mon-Fri , with the S.Tag:B2CJ2BS for more information.

Well, I do own this laptop. Warranty has indeed expired. But that was way back in 2009. The laptop is currently lying useless at my place because of some issues in the display. I am not getting it fixed because of the high costs involved when you have to go through the official channel.

The problems with these SMS messages are several:

1. I never subscribed for such alerts from Dell.
2. The message does not really say what it is for.
3. The language is messy and has grammatical errors.
4. They want me to call them! I mean wtf.
5. And so on…

The message originated from LM-Dell. So I assume that they are sending it through Loop Mobile in Mumbai.

PS. I am facing some issues with the ultra expensive Dell LCD Monitor I have. But looking at the mess they have created in India, I am avoiding contacting them for this too.

The vicious circle at Dell!

One of my friends has been facing a major issue with an expensive piece of hardware he purchased from Dell.

Dell India customer care guys have been very unhelpful and I decided to see if I can get him some help through the social channels Dell has.

Dell India social media guys could not do anything for him.

So, I contacted the Dell USA guys. They forwarded me to their @dellcares account which is managed by their support team.

I forwarded the details of the problem to those people… And they responded back with a simple response…

Your complaint has been forwarded to the support representative in your region.

And that would probably be the same Dell India customer care guys! Yey! What a major WIN.

Dell UltraSharp U2711 is a bitch and Dell India is not helping

Update on Sharan Shetty case:

Dell finally sent a replacement.

But no… It is not a new unit. It is not even the same model. Instead of sending him a new unit of Dell U2711, Dell sent him an old model named wfp2707. And this unit is also not new. It was apparently returned by some other customer based in Bangalore.

And the details of this is mentioned right on the replacement unit’s box!

So, Dell expects the customer to take a second hand defective unit as a replacement for a model that is in fact a premium display that comes with a premium replacement warranty for three years. This is getting rather unbelievable and insane.

Read more about his story: Our experiences dealing with Dell India Customer Care

Dell UltraSharp U2711 is one of the most expensive LCD model Dell has on sale in the Indian market.

I purchased it for around Rs. 52,000. I know three other folks who owns this particular model.

Only one of them has a properly working piece. My unit has bright pixel problem. I hate discussing the problems with Dell customer care people because they try to make it sound like it is all your fault. I plan to keep an eye on my friend’s experience and do the needful myself. Another friend had the same problem and he got his replacement unit today. He is still checking whether the replacement unit is working properly.

I know of this another case where the display has major issues with colors. Sharan Shetty has been seeking a replacement for his U2711 unit for a while now. Dell has been delaying the replacement often giving lame excuses.

Here is a video he shot…

The video description has all the details on his bad experience.

Frankly speaking… If Dell cannot give a proper warranty on a display panel that costs around Rs. 50,000, I would stop recommending Dell to anyone.

Dell India has to fix their customer support. Premium panels deserves a premium quality warranty. If the panel is defective, it should be replaced asap.

The Nonsense Dell

When I placed the order for the TFT Screen… I was told that it would be delivered to me within a period of two weeks.

It’s already been 9 days that I placed the order. I was hoping to receive the delivery in the next couple of days.

And the company today decided to send me a mail that the order is now in process and it is now being processed for MANUFACTURING.

The delivery date is now scheduled for MAY 07. ONE FULL MONTH for a TFT SCREEN? WTF?

Why Dell Why?

Why cannot I know if the order I had placed last week is actually under process or not?

Why cannot I get status updates from your website?

Why would not your sales officer contact me now that I have placed the order, given him my credit card details and sent him signed copies of the documents he required from my side?

Is this how I am going to be treated now that you have my green stuff while I wait for your black stuff?
