Google Checkout and Credit Card verification

Just noticed today that Google Checkout does not require you to put in the password that is required by both Visa (Verified by Visa) and MasterCard (MasterCard SecureCode).

I was able to connect a Credit Card with a Google Checkout account and shop using it without the need to put in the password!

This was awfully weird and scary.

Recharging your Delhi Gurgaon Expressway Smart Tag!

I finally managed to find the proper website of the Delhi Gurgaon Expressway. It’s located here.

They have three methods to recharge your tag…

One I have already specified here: Oxicash.

The second way is using an American Express card. This is something very strange. American Express is the least popular Credit Card company in India. Why are they not offering Visa or MasterCard options? Makes no sense.

Barclaycard in India

So the company issued me a card without much of a hassle. It has become a hassle for me considering I cannot really locate a drop box where I can drop in the payment checks for using this card.

I also fail to see any option to access my credit card account online on their website. Though they do issue a pin to take out money from any ATM machine. That feature is useless for me.

I guess I would avoid using this card and would stick with my Standard Chartered one!

I am scared of Citibank

They are the only bank in India which believes in me enough to give me a credit card.

I got a call today and the dude said that I have been an outstanding customer and they were offering me two things.

One was a pre-approved loan which I was obviously not interested in.

The other was a massive boost in the Credit Limit of my card. I asked for any hidden charges. He responded that Citibank does not do that and there are no charges.

I was still skeptical but went ahead. Told him to do the needful. I should now have a rather pleasing credit limit on my credit card.

Paying Bills at Airtel Shop

You would find old ladies yelling at the customer care gal for the forced charges related to caller tunes and other facilities. No, they too have no idea when they did subscribe to these ‘value-added’ services.

And when you give your credit card to the cashier dude… He would reject three of your otherwise normal cards because the machine is in too bad shape and would not accept credit cards with chip (eg. Maruti Citibank Autocard), slightly older card (with slightly damaged magnetic strip).

He knows that your credit card is perhaps all right. And he would admit that the machine sucks and he can do nothing about it!

Awesome. Mr. Sunil Mittal… You might be one of the richest man in India today but you are losing the respect of the end customer.
