And Google is considered to be the champion of cloud computing

Apple iCloud has showcased how the cloud can be made to work with native apps. Google has tried similar stuff with their apps like Google Cloud Connect.

But the company really disappoints you when you end up facing issues with some of their core services. We all have faced issues with Gmail one time or the other.

The problem I have been facing is with Picasa Web. And I am paying for it. Google acknowledges the problem. Google developers even claim to have made some changes on their end to fix the problem. But apparently, it has not worked for anyone.

This thread showcases the entire saga. It has been more than a week and Google has simply failed to give an ETA on when they would be able to resolve this problem.

Image sharing is probably one of the hottest markets on the internet today. Flickr is struggling to compete against services like Instagram. Facebook is set to launch their own dedicated image sharing app for smartphones. And here is Google struggling to fix an error that prevents you from uploading your images to their servers from your computer on a wired broadband connection even when you are paying for the service…

Google Docs + Google Scribe means irritating awesomeness!

Google recently launched a new service named Google Scribe which tries to predict what you are typing and show suggestions.

It is like Google Suggest but for writing.

It is available as a standalone service and a bookmarklet which you can use on a regular textbox on any website.

We can assume that Google might offer it as optional feature inside Google Docs in the future.

I have played around with Google Scribe. My net connection or their processing engine ensures that the suggestions arrive too late. I can type faster than that.

But this new tool can become a powerful app for people who want to write in other languages. For example… It can come real handy for an Indian web user to write a letter in Hindi.

Google currently supports English on Scribe. But they are going to add other languages in the future.

Future is very powerful. Future is dumb!

Amazon S3: I am in the cloud!

Oh well I have been in the cloud ever since I started using webmail… But, I am now really on the web with an active account on Amazon S3. I am using it for data backup. It’s expensive when compared to shared hosting accounts that I could have used for data backup but I decided to give it a try. Brian helped me out in setting up the thing.

I hope Gdrive comes soon as I would be able to avoid paying for this nice little service in the future.
