Dabangg is a must watch

If you loved Wanted, you would like Dabangg too. The movie is pretty much part of the same genre. There is no logic. But the movie is wholesome entertainment. I used to get very annoyed by Salman Khan during the period where all he was doing was crappy comedies with hamming. He has realized that he needs to do some real entertaining movies and he is coming out with bloody awesome gems.

Sonakshi Sinha? Ah well… She does a good job in the movie. I do not believe she would have a career in Bollywood. But she has a hit on her resume already. Mahesh Manjrekar on the other hand continues to do impressive offbeat characters. It was nice to see him again… He was pretty much the villain in Wanted!

The most interesting part of the movie going experience was watching the trailer of Aakrosh. It felt like a Prakash Jha movie. But turned out Priyadarshan is making it! I guess he listened to Deepak’s mockery of him and his recent movies. Good job!

The Expendables is more fun than Peepli Live

I have seen both of these movies in the last two days. Frankly speaking, I enjoyed The Expendables more.

Nope. It is not the better of the two movies. It is just more fun. Seriously poor editing work with some third class special effects.

As I read in some reviews, this movie would have been a straight to DVD if it was not for the star-cast.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis have a 2 minute role. Sylvester Stallone? He failed to do what he managed to excellently accomplish in the last of the Rocky and Rambo movies. I am not sure why he made himself run so much. He runs like a girl now! And he took a lot of beating in the movie. He even admitted that he got his ass kicked. Funny? Yes. Desirable? No.

Jason Statham and Jet Li are the two saving grace. Statham gets some of the best dialogs and action sequences. Li played his part excellently. Dolph Lundgren was largely wasted especially considering how much was expected from him in this movie. Steve Austin? He plays a baddie. The baddie who take orders from his boss but dies a painful death. Very stone cold performance.

The surprise part belonged to Mickey Rourke. No badass action. Just plain dialogs. And he simply excelled in that. Seriously, if you are looking for a good reason to watch this movie just watch it for the sequences featuring Mickey Rourke.

The good thing is that a sequel is planned and just might get made. I would watch that flick for sure. This movie was pretty bad but a whole lot of fun. I know I criticized the movie for sucking too much. But there are some movies which are fun because they sucked so much.
