Steve Ballmer on Apple iTunes

Mr. Ballmer prefers to watch Lost for free (ad-supported services). He says:

Why? Because it’s free. . . . I have to admit that I’m annoyed by the four 20 seconds [of ads], but not annoyed enough to pay a buck . . . I think at the end of the day most people say, “Heck, if I can get something that’s pretty good that’s ad-funded and the ads don’t kill me, I’ll take that over the thing I gotta pay for.”

Well, that’s why I use Gmail instead of Hotmail. It’s ad-supported (so is Hotmail) and gives imap and pop for free.

What about Apple iTunes in India?

Now that it is confirmed that Apple iPhone would be sold in India by both Airtel and Vodafone, the next question is when would Apple launch the iTunes in the Indian market?

Apple iTunes is unlikely to be very successful in India considering people do not like to pay for digital media.

But if the iPhone is indeed going to be sold in India, people would love to buy iPhone applications that would be offered in other markets for the iPhone.

Or maybe, Apple does not really care and would just have the money from both Airtel and Vodafone for the outdated first generation iPhone! Especially considering the iPhone is out of stock in both US and UK and market reports suggest that the international markets are all set to get the second generation iPhone that would support 3G.

We are unlikely to see the 3G edition of iPhone being sold in India officially. First, it makes no sense considering we do not even have 3G in India. Second, why would Apple bother to make available the second generation model in India when we would suck up the old generation one!

However, not many people know about this browser. A lot of people however do know about Apple and Apple iTunes.

Some other people keep a copy of Apple QuickTime installed on their machines.

But still. Few people would have a copy of Apple Safari installed on their machines.
