I bought another APC UPS and it turns out to be a crap deal again. I had terrible experience using their 500VA unit. The 1000VA unit appears to be dead on arrival.

I have experienced it and Brian has just confirmed it. The UPS system from APC specializes in disconnecting the power supply (due to fluctuation I guess) when the power comes back! Not when the power goes…
He also notices the random shut downs of the UPS which happens for no apparent reason. Some American technology this is! Even when they are making the UPS systems in India now, they have not learnt from the Indian conditions.
