Enable Systray Quickstarter in OpenOffice

If you are a heavy user of OpenOffice and found it to be slow loading, do turn on the ‘enable systray quickstarter’ option in the preferences to make it faster. This way you can close down the application but still run them at blazing speeds. Inefficient but works.

I have been facing issues with properly shutting down the machine from Ubuntu. Looks like it has shown its effects. My Gnome seems to be messed up and it would show the titlebars of the various applications.

Joost or Democracy TV on Linux?

I do not think Joost works on Linux at the moment. I checked out Democracy TV and it is pretty cool and usable. Nice alternative for the time being if you are on Ubuntu Linux.
