Mineral water in PVR Cinemas
Sometime back we heard about a case when a consumer sued one of the multiplexes in Delhi because they were selling bottled price above the MRP printed on it. PVR and perhaps other halls have found a way around it.
PVR seems to have collaborated with one of these companies and special bottles with increased MRP is printed on the bottles shipped in these halls. So, well you would still be required to pay enhanced price because that’s what the MRP on these bottles is.
Simple and stupid. They stumped the court’s ruling. Now, what would you say?

Yes there is a premium we need to pay for the ambience, security, facility. If we have concerns beyond that we should talk to the manager/supervisor. There is NO point in emailing or blogging them.

I think there is no one of communist view.its your choice ,you go and pay what pvr is asking for a 750 ml water.it is a way to make money,if you are smart enough to do such things ,do it .give competition to pvr so that they are forced to reduce the prices.it is there time to earn but will not earn forever.for some, this is not pinching because they are earning to afford Rs. 20/- for a 750 ml water and getting self satisfaction of putting themselves in specific category from rest of average indians.they should first consult their parents about value of money.

I am really shocked over views expressed. It shows why we are what we are. There are multiple perceptions we are looking at 1) Legal 2) Ethical 3)Smart business
and PVR falls flat on all counters. Have a look at this
LEGAL DEFAULT
What Mr. Bijli is doing - reprinting his own rates on water bottles and selling it 5 times higher. It's by no means a crime.
What about service tax?
Ever heard of VAT?
Evading these is a serious crime (Consumer Courts)
ETHICAL
Have you ever visited those hill stations, where rates of normal Rs 2 cup of tea inflates to Rs 10. (Because you are a tourist). A small time Tea vendor does it .. and it certainly doesn't feel right (atleast to me).
Now country's biggest entertainment provider using the same cheap tactics to earn few extra bucks!!! It's Pathetic.....and its a polite description.
SMART BIZ
Last but not least, it was a poor idea adopted following DT Cinemas. DT Cinemas were drawn to court (almost 2 years) and today they sell water dot at original print rates. So it was bound to happen to them... what so smart about it?
Multiplexes already set the class apart by ticket prices, 5 times more...I dont think a water bottle will make much of a difference beyond that. PVR Saket still sell first 2 rows tickets to students @ Rs. 12
