Indian Postal Department

Indian Department of Posts

Do you know that the government is planning to amend the Indian postal bill to make it illegal for courier companies to handle documents and packets which weigh less than 500 grams? From what I have read online, it’s true.

Sucks. Right?

I can never forget how the Indian Postal Department failed to deliver the tee-shirts I ordered from CafePress and the tee-shirts Opera guys sent me through regular mail.

There is no doubt that the Postal department has come of age. It has improved. But there are still areas which need to be looked into. Let me give you an example. I stay in Nagpur and have my family’s SB A/C in GPO Nagpur. Each time I go to get my pass books filled it takes 2 weeks to do so, unlike a bank where they give it to you in 2 minutes. Thats the difference. You can check it out. The senior citizens are made to wait for hours before they are able to draw money from their accounts. If your MIS or SCSS matures then it can take weeks before your maturity amount is refunded. I am certain if these problems are addressed by the local authorities things will improve.
