Piccadelhi, expensive and not so good after all

I have been to almost all the PVR movie halls in the Delhi NCR region. PVR Plaza is however not one of them. However, I plan to fulfill this wish of mine pretty soon.

The closest I got to achieving my goal was this last weekend when a couple of us guys met at the hall in Connaught Place for a couple of rounds of beer and booze. We decided to go to Piccadelhi restaurant below the movie theater coz one of the guys wanted Guinness Beer instead of the regular stuff (that would be Kingfisher Lager).

Here is what I think about the restaurant. It is absurdly expensive and not so good. The waiter told us that they did not serve regular water and the bottled water costed 50 bucks per unit. Nice and sweet!!!!

We managed to talk to the manager who managed to arrange ‘free’ drinking water for us guys. Now came the shittiest part. We visited this expensive ‘pub’ to drink Guinness Beer and they were out of stock! It was on the menu, it costed like 400 bucks, and they did not have it in stock! Phenomenal. We had a feeling that we should have left then and their.

However, lazy as we are, we decided to have our drinks at that place only despite the fact that even the desi regular beer was pretty expensive. Fortunately, the peanuts and chips were free though the waiter took quite some effort before bringing us the refills.

Food? It was not worth taking the risk though we did order two dishes to see what they had in store for us. Cheese Balls had more air than cheese in them and I did not try out the stuff made up of Fish. The waiter was a pain in the ass as he continued to haunt us for the rest of the evening as if he was waiting for us to take the risk of ordering more food to freak out!

We had our good laugh over all the shit over some rounds of beer while we watched Chelsea winning their match in the English Premier League and then decided to leave for Nizam’s for our dinner. Nizam’s was not that good either as we could not have our favorite chicken thingies and decided to settle for mutton which was all filled with tons of oil. In the end, ice cream at Nirulas completed our fun and incident free evening…

No matter how many movie complexes may open and eating joints may come and go, Nirulas will remain Nirulas-old is gold. I have been in Delhi for over thirty years now and nothing beats Nirulas.

Are you aware of technical writing by any chance?

    Piccadelhi,

In a very short and sweet note I would just like to say that “One would come out of Piccadelhi with pockets totally empty and still the stomach half full and with the taste buds still trying to figure out what went through them…….

Trust me guys its not worth giving a try. :)
