More controversies for India Pakistan cricket match

So, Pakistan won the match due to a better run rate in a match ending prematurely due to bad lighting. I am pretty sure that this is going to cause a lot of controversies in the Indian media who would love to tear the system apart. Especially considering, they would still believe that India had a chance to bowl out the Pakistan team. Looks like I had rather avoid the news channels tonight and avoid reading the newspapers tomorrow. I just cannot digest all the crap they would be generating over the calculation system which is enforced in cases where the match could not be completed.

Pakistan was lucky and right in choosing the option provided to them by the umpires. They had a good reason to do so. They were no doing that bad. But, they were not doing much good either. India still had a solid chance to win the game. However, the point remains that the light was bad and they had a better run rate compared to India when calculated according to the complex system ICC uses.

India also chose to use the unusual rule for getting Inzamam-ul-Haq out when he out of instinct used his bat to stop the ball thrown at the wicket. If they expected Pakistan to be fair to them, they could have let Inzi continue batting when he was not actually going to be out by that throw at the wicket. Rules are rules and Pakistan followed them to their own benefit!

ICC do serve a good purpose by having created a central body which controls all things Cricket. However, it appears to find it difficult to adjust to the totally different cultures of Cricket and its relevant bodies around the world. The demands/requirements called for by the ECB are very much different then those called for by BCCI or PCB. ICC is just a train junction where the different trains like England, India, SAfrica come to, pass through. It needs to be a terminus, where they start from and reach to.

The fact that each different board or country holds a different monetary value in the Cricketing world does not help ICC either. It is a fact; well known and oft proclaimed that BCCI is the richest cricket controlling board in the world, and tries to use this ‘clout’ at time for undue advantage.

ICC is a good concept. But may be better run if there was a board on the ICC with a representation from each ‘major’ cricketing nation. If it already does, it needs to be more publicised and in more control.

man ! i have to agree with you at this point, however game is game, sometimes you loose sometimes you win, its all part of game.

ICC SUCKS -cant they renew themselves?

    Re: Inzy.

It may not be within the so called ’spirit’ of the game that India appealed and got the decision of Inzy being out.

However, I disagree when you suggest that the Indians should have allowed him to stay.

In Inzy’s previous same incident v. England, your suggestion would be relevant and valid, when Inzy was still in his crease and even if the ball had hit the stumps, he was safe.

However, in the 1st Pak/Ind ODI, the ball was still in play, the fielder Raina, I believe, threw the ball, since - important point here - Inzy was way out of his crease. Irrespective of the fact that the ball may not have hit the stumps, Inzy had no business to play a defensive shot (it was an ideal defensive shot, I must add here!) and interfere.

India were valid in appealing. Umpires were right in judging him out.
