Airtel reminding me of Sify Broadband Days!
I had never thought that I would say this. Nevertheless, Airtel is actually reminding me days spent using the oh-so-awesome Sify Broadband connection. If speeds were not bad the entire last night, they are oh-so-pathetic at around 9:20 am. Looks like offices and cyber cafés running on Airtel are back online squeezing the bandwidth, which should have been sufficient with Bharti’s Airtel considering they have their own international gateway.
The Airtel Broadband speed checker shows that I am getting 35kbps when I should be getting between 128kbps-256kbps. The lowest they give on the package I have is around 64kbps as per a statement made by a friend on the Broadband Forum. Goodness gracious me.
The more important point. If I had to move from Chandigarh to Gurgaon to get rid of Sify Broadband, where do I move now to get decent broadband connectivity again? I doubt, there is any ISP here in India, which is providing decent services now that Airtel has lost its charm. Even more interesting is the fact that I am waiting for the Airtel Broadband DNS servers to get updated (I moved a site to a new server) since the last 4 hours. No use. Absolutely no use.

Bro,
Just 4 hours and your Airtel DNS was not updated ?
I have moved one website 4 days back. BSNL broadband shows website at new IP, however Airtel DNS is yet to be updated and airtel still takes me to old IP. I cmae to your lovely site searching for some FREE DNS Nameservers (to get rid of airtel dead DNS).
Keep writing

How’s Airtel now? Presently I’m using SIFY. The MFs charge me Rs.561/- per month and most of the nights I don’t get a connection to my gateway at local service providers. The local service provider is an illiterate goon. It is of no use to ring their Help Desk (A call center ). I want to change, but don’t know which one should I go for. Which one are you using now?

i was using airtel broadband service for almost a year and gone through very bad/bitter experiances , i was using home 999 plan which promises to provide speed between 128-256 kbph which i never got and after several requests to airtel they finally sent one engineer mr. ajay yadav who checked the speed was 80 kbps and when he checked up from backend , the backend confirmed that the speed provided to me was according to plan 699/ that is 64-128 kbps where as they have been charging me 999/ for almost a year , their engneer gave me this in writing but the staff never agreed to it and finally i desided to change my isp reliance broadband which promises to give speed upto 4 mbps though i never got this speed but its 1000 times better then airtel which normally give download speed upto 1 mbps and upload speed upto 600 kbps with the same 999 plan

I agree. Switched from 725 plan to 999 plan. It sucks! I never got the speed of 256 and am stuck at 14 kbps (128 kbps) download speed. Oh Gawd! When will the net service improve in India? x-(

i take Datainfosys broadband of 128 KBps speed they said the browsing speed is 128Kbps and downloading speed is 13 Kbps. according this airtel do the same. where as if we take 128Kbps connection it would be 128KBps downloadning and browsing.
what you say for this…….

as u said that ur connection is 128kbps…sop downloading speed should be 128/8=16kBps as 8bits=1byte…nomally isp’s provides the speed in kilobits n our computer browser shows in kilo bytes///
