Even US celebrates its independence day by declaring a holiday...we have "some right" on these two days(15 th August). As for the bank establishments et al being closed..Govt wanted us to "celebrate" it together as one nation. It's a different matter that Indians don't feel it that way. Sad for a nation as a whole. 2nd October is a total waste and ill deserved. Ironically, Gandhi had no mass following to the extent we are made to believe...but that's another BIG story. Even US celebrates its independence day by declaring a holiday…we have “some right” on these two days(15 th August). As for the bank establishments et al being closed..Govt wanted us to “celebrate” it together as one nation. It’s a different matter that Indians don’t feel it that way. Sad for a nation as a whole.
