I had moved to Gurgaon without any particular plan in mind exactly a year ago. The decision was made in 1 night when I came to know that an uncle who resided in Gurgaon was in town and had plans to go back to Gurgaon the next day. I pondered over the thought of moving to this city throughout the night and started packing at around 4 am. And 6 am all my stuff was loaded in his car and I myself started for Gurgaon at around 9.
I still remember landing here with 2 bags full of cloths and little else on the Gurgaon bus stand where a friend picked me up and took me to his home. 2 days later, we had a small place to start our work. A lot happened in the last one year. Saw massive ups and down. Now I am still in Gurgaon, at a slightly bigger place with much more facilities available to me.
I almost moved back home a couple of weeks back but nothing got materialized. One of the primary reasons for me to move to Gurgaon was lack of decent options to get connected to the internet in Panchkula. Amazingly, the problem still exists one year after it all started. We still have few options to get decent bandwidth throughout India and few people are lucky to have a stable internet connection, which comes with functional customer support.
And I still am not sure what I love about this country of ours which has given me little else but hope that if 1 billion people can survive in it, I can too…
Hi
Am responding to Angus.
Don't know what kind of music your bands play... but i suggest you touch the following cities (Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Goa).
Target audience for western music is sizeable.
You could also get in touch with event management firms like Fountainhead & wizmark, who could hook you up with the best gigs and the local event calendars.
Check out the link below that lists event managers....

Regarding hotels check out the following:
Option1
www.gingerhotels.com/
(read article below, they are gr8 value for money)
http://tata.com/indian_hotels/releases/20060907.ht...
Option 2
log on to sites like www.cleartrip.com or www.travelguru.com
They may not allow you to book as you are not resident in India, however they would give you a good idea about decent hotels & rates.
Locating hotels online directly, subsequently would not be difficult.
Cheers!
