What Shite?

Some people want me to believe that companies like Infosys, TCS, Wipro and Satyam does real development work for domestic market. I find it hard to believe. How many of them have actually cared about developing a regional language version of Linux, which is actually usable? How many of them have actually contributed to development projects like Metro in India? And how many of them actually pay the taxes they should without asking for benefits they get in the name of IT development in India?

How many of them have worked on improving the infrastructure of India? How many of them are involved in increasing the PC penetration of India? How many of them are working on bringing cheap broadband to India? TCS was proud when Ferrari chose them for collaboration, but are they working with Maruti and Tata to make the cars on Indian roads safe?

Infosys is in news over property scandals. People say that infy has done India proud. How come, have they managed to make Bangalore a better place to live in? Instead, they are threatening to move to other states, which are offering them more facilities, and tax breaks!

I can write tons more shite on this crap on this Blog. But I need a cup of coffee for that. And my cook does not make me coffee at 3:45 in the morning.

R&D is hardly done in India. All these companies are software carpentary services which just compile software for the clients abroad- according to the gameplan set by the clients consultants. Indian companies are just coding organisations.. cant call them IT companies. Highly skilled, cheap carpenters who work for less money, unearthly hours and impossible deadlines.

Well, buddy you seem to possess a needless wrath and grab for the companies you just mentioned. actuall you are not alone to be blamed, this is the problem of most of the people. People love to criticise whats available! My dear friend, how can for you forgett the biggest benifit these companies shower to the developing nation… its the fact that they are the ones making the Indian youth take over to their feet that thus should be praised… NOT CRITICISED. see you talk about the Nation’s Developement. Now what actually is a nation? The Roads, The Lands, The Metro, etc. ARE THESE NATION? The answer to this question in NO!! Actually, nation is a unit which is formed by its people.. its Nationals.
YOU, ME, THE BOY NEXT TO YOU, A LABOURER EARNING HIMSELF A BREAD AFTER A HARD DAY’s WORK, A WASHERWOMAN, A CARPENTER, A BEGGER, A WAITER, A POLICEMAN, THOUSANDS OF UNEMPLOYED YOUTH…… YES THIS IS NATION.
Now when you talk about nations upliftment… its got to be their upliftment. and these companies just pay their parts by employing them… thus employing the Nation, thereby contributing their part to the nation’s developement.

Interesting views here. I actually beleive, India would have been a different country without the IT companies (foreign and domestic…there is actually little difference between an indian software house and an American). May be without these we might not have got Mcdonalds, TGIFs or Pizza huts or not have had the money to afford at these places but on a longer term, we would have been better off. IT companies paying out huge salaires in India (this is peanuts though compared to salaries in the western world) has only helped in creating an artificial scarcity of consumer products, ruined some of the domestic companies and huegly added to the inflation. Its made a majority of the people (in Bangalore, Delhi etc) arrogant and rude. Most people earning out of these companies which are bringing foreign invstment into the country are spending it on American chains…so the money’s going out of the country anyway. Poorer people are finding it harder to live. Farmers are committing suisides. The gap betn the rich and the poor is bigger than ever. People are buying more cars, ACs etc which is adding to the environmental problems. Frankly, I don’t give a rat’s arse if we don’t have Mcdonalds/PIzza huts/Pepsi coke. Without the influx of IT companies, we would have been fored to do soemhting different, something for our own markets, something for India’s own people or atleast act in a unified manner to force our governments to start investing tax payers money to create more industries and more jobs. Millions are working for the western civilization letting go of thier own lives where as the poeple in the western world have the time of their lives drinking and partying through the night. Sorry if I offended anyone with this one. Would like to hear everyone’s views though.
