Running your monitor at 1280×960 resolution on a smallish 17″ monitor can be hazardous for your eyes.

I’ve been running at 1280×1024 on 17″ monitors for years now. Couldn’t live without the desktop space.

You can always bump up the text size if your having trouble reading it.

Heck my 15″ PB screen is at 1280×854.
