Another attempt to go Open Source

I already have got a functional version of Mandrake 10 running on this system. But I did not find it very good except for the fact that it even ran my TV Tuner Card/Net Connection out of the box. So, I am now giving Suse Distro a chance. It’s a personal edition so I hope at least some basic tools come preinstalled like movie playing capability and all the basic net applications. Mandrake took 30 Megs of downloading of dependencies before my Gaim started to work on it! I am 6 hours away from the complete download which is continuing since some days now (low cost net connection being the culprit) but it’s better than getting one from the stands. Let’s hope Suse brings a better desktop experience! I have used the professional addition and loved it, personal should not be much different.

Talking of other things, I would really like to know the guys who read this Blog using RSS feeds. There is one individual who uses Bloglines… If you get this post, please drop in your name!

I am seriously thinking of taking the Reliance scheme which enables me to call any mobile in the country at Re 1 per minute. If you know of any loophole or a better option, do drop in that too.

And the happenings of the last 2 days have really made keeping track of the latest stuff interesting!

Edit: Duh… I found 1 blank CD for the ISO file and my fucking Samsung writer corrupted it while writing the CD. Need to get another bundle of blanks…
