Outsourcing3

Outsourcing has been the hot topic in news since some time now. Especially since it started becoming apparent that people were losing their jobs in America due to outsourcing. It even took a political turn when the democrat’s president candidate John Kerry openly declared that he is against losing American jobs to outsourcing.

So, how many types of outsourcing are there?

The first one is the most popular one. Big corporations get greedy (or they have to fight to survive!) and export their simple jobs (like customer support or minor module development) to countries like India where labor is dirt cheap. So, they get work done for less money which leads to more profits (or less losses). Simple mathematics.

Than there was this incident which got loads of publicity. Some American guy outsourced his job that he was hired to do in an American company to an Indian! In the process he saved bulk the money he got for himself and paid the rest to his hired employee. Very innovative.

And well, then they complain of us stealing their jobs!

Now, I know a third one. And perhaps the rarest one. I have this friend who like me works from home office. But unlike me who keeps the work profile pretty limited, he is open to everything. In fact he often teases me of my ethical values which led to me ignoring many work assignments related to legit spamming (every law has some loopholes!) and other weird stuff. And one of the most common things he does is outsourced work from offshore. And well, what he does is that he gets work from an American company, subcontract it to some local cheap guy and take the bulk of the payment in the process. So, in a way… he outsources outsourced work. God forbid if he is working for an American who is outsourcing his own work to him, the level of outsourcing reaches fearful levels.

But the good thing is that work gets done, and everyone benefits. That is the rule of the game!

Its just a part of the Game. Everyone tries to get benefitted and in business, no ethic values. So outsourcing is largely supported by other countries and largely opposed by the people of the country who is outsourcing.
