unless apple does it, mac os x wont have proper non-mac hardware support. that would not even put it in competition with windows vista.

Hmm…
In fact its the other way round, by end-2006.

Apple will have its hardware running off intel, with Mac-OSX for x86, and come in direct shooting view of Windows. Linux will still be irrelevant on the desktop, as much as it is today.

i do not think vista is even aimed at competing with mac os x. linux is what it has to counter. and vista is everything what linux is not aiming to become. so it’s a total no-comparison show.
