Having nightmares with Linux
I am trying to get a Linux server installed here in office. The problem is that I cannot actually spare a new computer for the task. So, was thinking of using an old Celeron 500 with 128meg to do the job. It is of course going to suck considering Linux no longer is a slow pc operating system as it used to be touted when compared to windows OS.
However, nothing seems to work. Tried a latest variant of the Red Hat, ISO had some problems as even after trying multiple copies of the same CDs, we got installation errors. Then tried the official Novell Suse Enterprise Server DVD, they were corrupt as well! Download Fedora Core 3 but well, no matter how hard I tried, could not get a serial mouse to work in it. Next tried Ubuntu, again the same problem with corrupt ISO downloaded from the net! Now I am trying an old Red Hat 7 version, which I used to run around 2-3 years ago! Let us hope it works…

Did you try to compute the md5sum of the iso you downloaded? That is usually the first step…
Also use bittorrent to download the iso, it’s usually *much* faster
