What is Windows?



I was discussing my Linux problem on an IRC Channel and a really smart guy said this about Windows OS not being an OS in real:

windows is just a foofy gui based on a deprecated NT-kernel that basically runs on dos

    i thought the point was that winXP didn’t run on dos anymore.

    maybe it is still burried deep down somewhere inside the NT kernel. but atleast it has reached a certain stability level :)
