Why I dislike Google Buzz?

Google recently launched Buzz as their challenger (alternative) to Twitter and Facebook status updates.

Integration with Gmail makes it a service that I can use on a regular basis. I like it how it allows me to post what I want to post without worrying about character limits.

However, there is one particular thing that annoys me the most.

Photos (and videos I assume) I share through Google Buzz are hosted on my Picasa Web account. Which has a 1GB storage limit.

Most of the images I share through Buzz are the ones which are not that important to me. If I want it on my Picasa Web gallery, I would upload it there manually.

Google Buzz eats into that 1GB capacity which I think is also connected to my Google Docs account.

I can of course pay to get an upgraded storage. But I already pay for Flickr and I have been pretty happy with it. I would probably migrate from Flickr to Picasa Web the day they launch unlimited storage plans.

For now, I end up avoiding Buzz when I want to share images. I use Facebook and Twitter instead. Facebook has unlimited storage limits for photos. Twitter uses third party services which also allow unlimited storage options.

Google has to do something about the limits on Picasa Web (and Google Docs) if they want to compete against other file hosting (and sharing) services. I had gladly pay USD 25 for it. This money currently goes to Yahoo for their Flickr service.
