exactly. you cannot expect any company to migrate you only if the new plan is cheaper. but no migration if the new plan is expensive!

airtel i believe had a couple of new offerings in the new plan:

Free Calling Value	Worth Rs.100
Free Anti Virus	Worth Rs.100
Free Unlimited Gaming	Worth Rs.199
Free Speed on Demand	Worth Rs.100
Free Online Storage	Worth Rs.99

i am not sure if these were part of the original plan.

I feel that if the plan remains the same (like same up/down speed, same FUP, same call rates) and the price is made BETTER, then users should automatically. This means that a price change (or a name change) should not be considered to be a NEW plan.

If even one thing is different, such as call rates, this makes it a different plan altogether. In that case, the plan should not be touched.

Its very obvious that this conflict of interest would arise. Plan prices may increase or decrease. Users want only reductions and not raises in tariff. The company wants to keep a uniform policy to avoid any confusion or hassles. The policy is both beneficial and harmful in some situations.

The best solution would be to continue this policy, but keep customers informed of new plan through pamphlets in bills etc, which they already do. So I'm happy with it.
