Just to let you know, it seems to be working again on mine now. I clicked the "Check network status" button and that worked. So if it's not fixed itself for you, try that :)

Working fine for me. Your server must be blocking the connections to those servers.
No trouble with the Akismet service, I suspect something is wrong with your server or firewall configuration. It is also unlikely network trouble as those IP addresses are location in different data centers in different cities.
