What are we prepared for?
No matter how advanced our science might be today, it still is no match for the nature.
China might already be generating artificial rain but most of us are still at the mercy of the nature.
India is a good example.
62 years of independence and most of our farmers are still dependent upon rain water for irrigation.
Monsoon gets late and those people are the ones who suffer the most.
For us… it is a relatively smaller problem.
No rains? Everyone turns on the AC… Power cuts.
Rains? Power department decides to cut the power to prevent any damage to their equipments and wires.
Gurgaon is an excellent example. It rains for 15 minutes in this city and most roads start looking like swimming pools.
I remember the incident from last year when they showcased a DLF owned property here in Gurgaon. After some heavy showers, the entire basement of that building had submerged in water. It damaged the cars parked in the basement and even went on to kill the elevator.
The end result was that the people living in that apartment had to use staircases for the next couple of days. It was not a funny situation for people living on floors above 3rd.
The question is… If we are not prepared for anything… why are we still ignoring the climate change… Polluting this planet… practically ruining it for us eventually.
