I had heard good things about it and most of them turned out to be true. Windows 7 is exactly what Windows Vista was supposed to be. It is visually appealing. And it works smoothly.
I installed the RC edition on two different laptops. One was a slightly low configuration Compaq. Fresh installation… Installed pretty fast. Detected an obscure wireless driver which was a pain to get working on both Windows XP and Windows Vista. Even without a dedicated graphic card, Win 7 was fast and smooth.
The other machine was a complicated beast. Had a dedicated graphic card but it was an upgraded installation. Installer took hours before Windows Vista was converted into Windows 7. It worked well. Had some issues. One time it gave an error that the Desktop folder was missing!
After a couple of restarts, everything seemed to work fine. Somanshu seems to be happy with the result.
I have been using Mac OS X Leopard for some time now. It works well. Has some nice things. Windows 7 adopts some cool features from Mac OS X… But I continue to remain on Windows (Ubuntu part time).
This could be the Windows that could make me want to accept… I’m a PC.
