Maruti Suzuki Swift
I think Suzuki Swift is damn cute car… If only I could afford it. The only car which managed to make my heart beat faster ever since the Matiz disappeared from the scene…

I am not talking about the Enzo Ferrari of course ![]()

I am getting more and more tempted to take a loan and get my hands on a Maruti Suzuki Swift.
Papa was here and he told me that he saw the Maruti Swift at the Apra Auto Showroom in Gurgaon.
I now have my own bitch. She is red colored and comes powered by a 87 bhp engine. They normally
Is this going to be the Maruti Esteem Replacement?

Swift is being launched in India on 27th May 2005. The 1.3L GL model is going to cost around Rs.465000 on road and 1.5L GLS model is going to cost around Rs.535000 on road.

Daewoo was taken over by GM. The Optra we have in the market was Daewoo Nubira…
May 2nd, 2005 at 03:16 pm
That’s about 12,277 dollars here.. Enough for a very good used car 2-3 years old, depending on the model.
May 2nd, 2005 at 03:19 pm
car comes at a premium in india. govt eats up a huge chunk of the total cost.
May 9th, 2005 at 06:46 pm
I believe in the Palio. No match in the B segment. Have to check out the SWIFT if it’s come near.
May 12th, 2005 at 01:53 pm

I wonder what the waiting time for the SWIFT delivery is ?
If official figures are to be believed ,the order-booking stands at 24000 cars.
Would I be right in assuming a waiting time of a year, atleat?
Should one SWIFT-ly look for another car.
June 24th, 2005 at 09:50 pm
gr8 car guys booked one for my family on 28th of may ,very nxt day of my bthday had to wait for three months bfore i managed to make up my mind, sexy car ,had a test drive as well must say ,it was amazing .get urself one today

Swift is a very nice car with finetuned esteem engine.I booked a blue one n waiting since june second..
July 7th, 2005 at 06:55 pm
I had booked a VXi swift with ABS on 27 May at Aalianz. No definate news of when they will deliver. They are tightlipped about my priority no. as well saying I’m 3-4th on the list for that model. Do I get the impression that they are unnecessarily withholding information?

Heaven! or Hell = Maruti Swift
I had booked Swift Zxi as a gift to my father on May 29, 2005 with 100 K as booking amount with delivery affirmation from dealer on June 6th. The dealer called me on May 7th and said that please deposit the full amount and you will get the car before 10th. Later the date changed to June 15th, then June 25th, then June 30th, then July 5th and finally July 15th. Now the dealer has said that I will tell you about delivery on July 13th. I have booked my car with PREM MOTORS, Gwalior with total amount of Rs. 4.82 + and still waiting. Prem Motors and Maruti takes customer as there slaves for granted. I also talked to Maruti help line and then to senior manager from regional office, but I got an all negative answer.
It’s better to look out for alternative car or put my money in fixed deposit!
If I will get my delivery on July 15th swift will be my 5th car from Maruti. Well this is the respect Maruti/Dealer gives to its loyal customers.
To HELL with Maruti.
Well to get on technical details, I am quite impressed with space, engine power, and over all aesthetic but all of the above are no good if I can not get car delivered.
July 9th, 2005 at 08:09 pm
Maruti is reputed well, but dealers are not sensitive to customer, e.g., M/S Prem Motors, dealer of Gwalior. On booking swift zxi on 29-5-05,They could not supply th vehicle. Maruti Udyog should monitor this mismanagement.

I have booked the Swift on May 24th. I’ve given up hope on getting it in the near future as I am tired of running around the salesmen. Might cancel the booking if they continue to bug me. Maruti had a plant breakdown in June for a week and the dealers didn’t even bother to inform me. Maruti got everything right except the delivery. They should have anticipated this. I won’t be surprised if more people decide to cancel their bookings. People booking now for the Swift may have to wait for atleast 6 months no matter what the ‘friendly’ salesman says.
July 11th, 2005 at 10:21 pm
What is the mileage of SWIFT - Is it better or worse than the esteem.
July 11th, 2005 at 11:37 pm
Hi, it is definately HELL!!!.. The same case in bangalore too.. i have booked my car on June 8th with the committment that delivery will be made by july 10th or 15th at most. now dealer tells straight away.. “it would take another TWO AND HALF month” ( totaly 3 and half month ) to get your vehicle.. thinking of going for something else.
July 12th, 2005 at 11:12 pm
I had booked the swift on June 21st with a confirmed delivery of July 25th. On June 30th after i call up the dealer, they inform me that it would be delivered only in December. No point in waiting for that stuff. Not worth the mileage or that looks. booked another make .
July 19th, 2005 at 08:21 pm
I am also facing the same situation. I booked the car on June 8th and When I booked they said it will be 2 months and now they are saying 3 months. Its really frustrating to wait . Every dealer says a different date and every sales man in the same dealer says different dates too… Can I ask directly to Maruti so that I can get a clear picture wheather to cancel the booking and go for other alternative or wait for the Car? Someone who knows please do let me know.
July 19th, 2005 at 08:23 pm
I heard that the Swift which are already on road gives 9-10kmpl in Bangalore city.
July 19th, 2005 at 08:35 pm
Guys the situation is really bad with Swift bookings. I booked Vxi on 12th June at Pratham Motors in Bangalore and I was told that I would get the delivery in around 45 days. After a few days I got a letter from showroom saying that my car would be tentetively delivered in Feb 2006. This is ridiculous and there is no satisfactory answers from Maruti as well. I tried calling their regional office in Bangalore but the response was pretty bad. Now I am thinking of cancelling the booking thanks to utter mismanagement by Maruti.

I Have a opinion of the look of swift. The first time i looked at it i was awed and floored by the looks . The2nd time it seem Ok. The 3rd time it was looking bulky , now i dont like the look at all . It looks very heavy and ugly . This opinion is share by lot of my friends too . Anyone any comment on this

Hi,
I booked the Swift on June 7th. The latest news I have is that it would be delivered between Oct 10th and Nov 10th. What the dealer is saying is that Maruti is releasing only 20 to 30 vechiles for an agency per month.
I very much feel this as a dirty marketing stratery from Maruti, they were giving lot of offers on all the other models.
As a side note, I dont find any negative notes about this car; but got some first hand thoughts from its users. The rear suspension is hard that its less comforable in bumpy roads. and the front seat is fixed low, even though there is enough head room. This effects the outside visibility as well as sitting comfort.
Did Maruti, while working on beautifing the vechile, did they put riding comfort in second place!!!
August 11th, 2005 at 09:18 am
I think Maruti has eaten more then they can chew. I Booked the car recently ( 1-2 months back). There is no check list or priority no.. There is some foul pay there. How come an ordanised company dosen’t have any process.
On one hand they says they have 6 months order. Then why donot they stop booking for moment.
They can advertise the waiting period too. Dealers are making fool of consumers by giving false hopes, when ever one knows it may take 6-8 months.
Maruti Managment is enjoying the fun. They should realise that there compititors are watching & next round they are goining to be out of business.
August 27th, 2005 at 07:52 pm
I had booked a swift Vxi on 20th july, inspite of being told that I will get the delivery after 5 months. Its high time that Maruti starts some online status check, where we, the customers, can check our status and can get to know an approximate date of our delivery.

Got a Swift vxi azure grey delivered on 10th August (booked on launching day) had a problem in lock in the right front door since yesterday, visited twice Workshop B in kolkata near Sales Tax office and yet to repair the problem due to NON AVAILABILITY of PARTS. Mr. Ritesh took 3 days time to repair it. The parts should have been available here! My car will remain unlocked for 3/4 days. What a funny thing! Please expedite your process.

Hey booked my swift on 5th June and got the delivery on 2nd July…Lucky me I guess.. The car is outstanding…quiet and silekn smooth… AC is fantastic.. high speed handling is very good all in all a Value for money….
February 9th, 2006 at 10:18 am
Hi Guys,
i have driven the swift and its a killer shark when it comes to power(for a segment B/B+ car… quite less when compared to Skoda Octavia - a segment C+ car) and as smooth as butter. I luv this car and would certainly like to buy one( the silver or grey color) once the other higher priorities are done.
I have gone through a number of blogs about this car. I must say that the strategy used by other car makers deserves a applause. Their comments are negative and false about this car.
In all , I would say that this is the best car around. ( I’ll wait till Chevrolet come up with their version of segment B cars if it is not too late). Guys/Gals test drive this baby and i’m sure u’ll fall in love with this “European design, Japanese Enginnering , Audi Look-alike….. ( I guess the list goes on) …..

i have driven the swift so far having clocked 64000km mostly all over india .its a great handler and has good pick but the seats need drastic improvement so does the ride quality.i drive mostly mumbai goa .once i hit a dog at 120 km and the bumper and headlight disintergrated.i have touched 197km in the car on the mum pune expressway.i also have fitted a k&n intake which i feel brings out the most in the 1.3cc eng.there are also xnon headlights which look realy good.i fitted a sparco steering which i love the feel off .next i plan to remap the chip&fit sparco seats.i have driven the car in the sands of rajasthan and the himalayas at 12000ft.its a pretty reliable car .

I have my Swift for 12 months now. Before the swift I have owned a Baleno for 7 years, the best car I have ever had, very confortable, practical, good in handling and on highways, and very economical.
In that seven years I have had a Mitsubishi Lancer, a Suzuki Ignis and a Suzuki Liana on lease also, right after eachother, The baleno was that best of all and better than the swift too.
I like the Swift for it’s handeling and it is very economical but not as comfortable as the Baleno. I would suggest the Swift to anybody who is looking for a practical sporty and good looking car but if your looking for a car that will be comfortable for longer rides, i wouldn;t buy the swift.
I keep in consideration though that the baleno is a bigger car than the swift, but compared in capability on the road, they are very similar.
I’ll be selling my swift soon unfortunately, I’ll be going back to a bigger model and the 1st in line is the ‘08 Mitsubishi Lancer.

Hi,
I got my VXI booked on 13th Oct and was committed delivery by the end of the same month.I obviously was sure it wouldnot happen that way still followed up regularly with the dealer. It got on getting delayed and I just like that called up Maruti Grievance cell to ask for exact booking period and they confirmed it to be typically 4-6 weeks for petrol.I would suggest, have a word with customer care om either of the numbers,9910202020/01123325329/342 and ask about average booking period of your model.Convey the same to the dealer and tell him that if he is not able to provide, just let you know so that yuou can go ahead with the next best offer.I think it works this way only.
January 9th, 2008 at 12:12 am
By the way,got my car on 23rd Nov,within 6 weeks…Its a wonderful car and worth the efforts and the wait…
