WordPress 2.7 testing experience

I am playing around with a test installation of WordPress 2.7 on one of my domains.

As expected they have changed the back-end user interface completely. It proves my original thought that they had totally messed up with the current interface which sucks on a bigger screen monitor (especially widescreen ones!).

The back-end on the test installation was pretty rough. A lot of work is to be done to make it good enough for a final release.

It is still not in beta so it was much expected. I like a lot of things I saw in the back-end… Some of the features I noticed and I liked:

Installation of plug-ins from back-end
Upgradation of WordPress from backend
Easier editing of post data from manage section
Customization of interface to remove non-useful stuff

They are doing a lot of things right which makes me think that they could have considered entering version 3 now. I guess the developers have even bigger plans for the future versions.

One thing that confused me. They seems to have delayed fixing the file uploader to work with Flash 10 in this release. Adobe has released the final version of Adobe Flash Player 10 and I was assuming that it was a high priority thing for them!
