Ground Realities
Here are two photos I took today which show the mess we live in today.
Here is a picture of the inverted dustbins in the region around Connaught Place. The dustbins are turned upside down so that they cannot be used for dropping bombs. This has been like this since the bomb blast in Delhi and I am not sure how long it would continue to remain like this. Prevention is better than cure I agree but is this really a preventive measure? I doubt.
Here is a photo of the Delhi-Gurgaon Toll Booth. The photo shows one of the lanes which is non functional. The photo was taken at peak traffic times and I had to wait in line for around 15 minutes. I cannot believe that the management can let this happen when the things are not really going very smoothly at the toll plaza. What could be the reason behind one complete lane being shut down? Lack of individuals to manage it? Malfunctioning technology? Please. They should have enough resources to avoid these kinds of problems.
This is not it. In my sector’s market, police is harassing hawkers and telling them to shut down their operations on the road side stating that they are the ones who are used by terrorists to place bombs in crowded places.
This is when they do not care to check the cars for any suspicious element inside them. And with around 50-100 cars parked in the region during rush hours, I do not think terrorists would need much creatively to come up with ideas to where to put the bombs for maximum efficiency.

Makes me think, how did the government cope earlier? Terrorist attacks have been going on India since many decades as far as I know.
This looks like security theatre though.
