While visiting Bhilwara in Rajasthan, I for the first time came across Petrol Pumps from the industrial giants Reliance. I have certainly seen some under construction pumps in Gurgaon itself; however, the ones in rajasthan were huge and well had something more than just petrol pumps.
They came supported with a proper food restaurant aimed at anyone and everyone. They had charpais, khats, and normal tables. Their were separate sections for family groups. And best of all.. Showers for the long distance riders including truck drivers. They even had a Reliance Infocomm tower at the backside with a shop for recharging and buying new connections!
That is what I would call convergence. Wait for a little while, we would have a Reliance WebWorld, and we would be able to play online games at these petrol pumps. Some cool things I heard, they were offering free lunch/dinner to truck drivers getting in more than 100 liters of diesels and other schemes like these.
Government run petrol pump owners seriously have something to worry about now. Considering not only Reliance, Essar and Assam Oil are also opening their own petrol pumps!
