Apple iPhone Effect?
I am sure that people in India who desperately wanted to get an iPhone would have already gotten theirs by now.
Now that the Apple iPhone would be easily available in the country… I can see more accidents happening here on our roads.
More people owning means more people trying to use the iPhone while driving. That means that more people would bump into other people trying to make the phone work while driving.
Could be a stupid speculation but I do not see peeps here in India getting used to a touchscreen as they have gotten used to dialing, talking, smsing on the mobile while driving.
Apple iPhone in India would be a crippled device. It would be a phone and a media player without much use of the internet device it is.
Wi-Fi hotspots are few. GPRS? EDGE? I am not really sure but internet surfing on the web here in India is not very exciting.
I am not sure what people would do on their Safari iPhone edition even if Vodafone and Airtel bundle them with unlimited internet access.
What about the YouTube player? Do you really expect me to be able to use this feature on mobile device internet? Google Maps? I really do not think it would be much usable outside your home’s wireless network.
Apple might have thought about that. Or maybe not. Suck the Indian people. We have been doing that. Let’s do some more.
Let’s think about the possible ads. Vodafone dog licking the iPhone screen? That might be interesting. If dogs can make it work, so can you.
Airtel. Is Shah Rukh Khan still with Airtel? I am not sure. I read online that Madhavan took over from Shah Rukh Khan. Can’t be possible. No one replaces the King SRK… Companies go bankrupt before that happens. Remember Fiat? Remember Home trade? Anyways, Shah Rukh Khan cannot lick the Apple iPhone. He already licks the Nokia.

Sushubh,
I think you’ve taken a very negative view on quite many things here. Internet on my Blackberry quite fast on Airtel. Iphone has a niche and it will occupy its niche here in India too. For people like me, no iphone can replace my blackberry.
P.S - This message was composed and posted from my blackberry

I have been using iPhone for a while now in US, recently when I came to India, I used it using EDGE provided by airtel, and the speed was Ok, not that great, was able to open up Youtube video
but was slow. But at home with Wi-Fi it was good, Not much use with maps as you said, but still is pretty cool to have phone + ipod + internet device(as advertised by Apple) all together.

I use sucky vodafone, edge gprs feels as fast as quicksand on Nokia e61i.
But wifi + home +mobile rocks, esp if u work from home. You get ur emails by BB Connect or Exchange for mobile through ur Wifi thats fast. And if your office uses sametime or jabber, u can get the mobile clients for symbian os. With symbian putty on phone. You have your office on phone
E61i - thats the advantage of qwerty phone
