While I'd say the songs are good, yes, but the way they are picturised leaves a lot to be desired. I mean especially the aezemoshaan shahenshah song.
I did enjoy the love story bits between Jodhaa and Akbar, but the court intrigue and building rebellion with its subsequent solution felt absolutely flat.

I'd risk another comment here...You have truly missed the beautiful songs of these times...khawaja mere Khawja. Truly worth it. Another brilliant song by Rehman...It's spiritual...And ethereal. I love the way intro starts and the way it merges in the main body of the song. It's a pure reflection of a genius to incorporate the sufi elements in this beautiful song. Much of it is overlayed by the chorus singers with Rahman's voice mingling in the song as it perfectly timed.

Man Mohana by Bela Shinde is another remarkable composition. To have someone sing in that pitch in the intro....it's rarely possible.

Rahman's music has those complex overlays which tend to grow on you over a period of time. He has definitely moved towards the "catchy" beats to more classical oriented stuff and thats indeed a good sign. He is one composer who is technically perfect. Each of the song's sutras slowly merge into each other without any apparent break in continuity which makes him nearly perfect and nearly timeless...
