Windows Vista Explorer Crash Problem

I just might have to reinstall my system to hopefully get rid of the frequent Vista Explorer crashes. The problem is widespread as I found out through Google searches. And no one has any definite answer. The crashes are pretty random and happen a lot when you are in a folder with media files. I have tried disabling icon thumbnails. Even that does not help. Totally frustrating.
