Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway Toll Booth

For me it has been a total disaster. I do not like standing in queues at all and they force me to do it. Even after so many days I am yet to understand the difference between a tag and a smart card. I do not understand why I cannot buy them inside the city and not at the toll booth itself. I do not understand on why they are offering me a tag for Rs. 1000. Why not let me do it the Delhi Metro way… Let me buy a card for Rs. 50 (refundable) and let me put in it any value that I like. And for god sake, let me recharge it online as well.

I also do not understand on why they are not giving a discount to return journey travelers. I also do not understand why they are charging Rs. 16 and not Rs. 15. I still do not understand on why we have to pay toll tax when we already pay enough through the surcharge on every liter of petrol we buy for our cars and bikes.

    Hi!

I think you need to educate yourself. Any developing economy in the world goes through a cycle in which the user has to pay for the infrastructuyre that he uses. USA went through this, China is going through it just like many other countries. The cess that we all pay goes into making roads which are not financially viable to make through a Public Private Partnership. The developer who has invested 100 and 1000 of crores of money on behalf of the Government collects this through toll for a fixed period, the rate of toll is fixed by the government based on a WPI formula, therefore toll rates are all like that. DND in Delhi was 18 bucks a couple of months before and now is Rs. 20 per trip. Infact there is no discounts available for regular commuters, while on DGE one gets 50% discount on toll rates. Besides, out of the 1000 that you pay 500 is refundable once you return the tag and 500 is for to use to pay toll. DND you get nothing back once you return the Glod Pass, which is the same thing.

Also with the Tag one does not have to wait in line, I have tried it and it works, so go ahead and register yourself for it.

Lets stop cribbing and do something for this country, follow rules, pay a little to improve our lives...cheers

i would stop cribbing when roads within cities would be worth driving.

i would stop cribbing when we would get decent power supplies.

i would stop cribbing when we would get 24x7 water supplies.

my car started rattling just after 5K on the ODO coz of the first one.

i had to spend 50K of my own money to get power supplies coz of the second one.

and i had to get an underground tank built at my place coz of the third problem.

i pay taxes. i pay obscene bills for power. i do everything the government expects me to do. i believe in the end i get little for what i do for my country.

My opinion towards this expressway is that in reality it is a big disaster.
first of no prpper segregation is being carried out, i have seen myself people mixing up, in the wrong lanes.
second lot of pedestrains causing mess, but no action has been taken yet,
third no expressway in the world allows two or three wheelers to commute, but despite of knowing that in our economy there are people who commute through them no action was yet taken.
the patrolling vehicles that they have started to mind the corridor is a real silly thing because i have seen myself that what sort of effort they make to guide the people.
last but not the least poor signage problem is also causing alot of confusion to the commuters.....
this corridor is been designed without keeping the security measures ..... god forbidden if ever u get a chance to witness an accident on this expresway then just look for the kind of measures that they have taken to save peoples life........

    @Meghna,

All developing econmoies have to go through all this ???

Remember levying Rs 10 as extortion tax for withdrawing my own fucking money from my bank - that is after paying all the taxes. I cannot seem to recall that any economy had to stoop that low for that.

As for economy - We know that biggest a'holes are income tax officers - take maximum bribes - But I have yet to recall this kinda corruption any place else in world.

I might continue - But again thats me and I love to crib - ITS MY HARD EARNED MONEY. And MAXIMUM of this money goes in to taxes and Government EXPENDITUREs.

But Meghna you will never understand this.
