What is your motivation to make a lot of money?
I never actually thought about why people want to earn a lot of money! Is it for having fun? Spending on yourself or your loved ones? Or is it just to have a social status to make others envy?
What is your motivation to earn tons of money? I want to know because I am finding it hard to get myself motivated to earn money… Of course, Booze does not count, as it no longer makes me work hard to earn the moolah…

Personally my motivation is to be able to buy anything that I wish to have. I really don’t want to be a millionaire, but at least have enough that I don’t have to worry about what I am spending on. I think, to some extent it’s the social status as well…at least for me. Who won’t like buying a BMW 745 and flaunt about it?

talking about cars, i would definitely like to buy a porche someday
hopefully, fuel would be affordable

Porche is not my kind. I am so sick of looking at Porche’s in NYC. But hey, if somebody gifts it to me, I’ll gracefully accept it:)

I am not working right now.. but when I do the main motivation would be earning more so that I can spend more… on myself and loved ones …
You remember the master card ad.. There certain thing in life which money cant buy for everything else there master card ( money money money… )
main reason would be spending :-p

I want to have money so I can be dependent and have secured life so when I grow up I will not be in need. And I want to have more money so I can establish a Future for my children.

by telling your kids that they would have your money to live on would be the worst possible sin you can do as a parent i guess.
just look at paris hilton!

To some extent, I might be seen as being proud to flaunt my share of that difference, but not so much for the extravagance, but for the display of the service I have been to other people in my lifetime.
My yacht is bought with all the savings that my expertise has brought other people, as has my house, my car, my education, etc – and I am very proud of that!
And this desire to drive forward and serve other people, of course in exchange for some share in some form of our combined saving - to make things a little better, and a little more efficient for other people - will always be there for me.
The most motivating/satisfying portion to begin with was the recognition of the achievement, in cash. You have to be able to measure your contribution to know that you are achieving things in the right direction, at least to begin with.
This is impossible to do efficiently on a salary.
Salaries are measured on a dollar for dollar basis - you get to spend/invest what you have left over from what you “earn”/save.
The “trick” to wealth (and the motivation that comes from it) is to turn your salary into a “profit” – that way, you are turning your wealth from a cash-flow in-hand, into a financial service: You have to make your income stream represent your wealth just as your annual mortgage payments represent the capital value of your home.
If you can transform your “salary/wages” into a profit-stream that you can walk away from, then all of a sudden you have in income stream that you can sell on for 7, 8, 10, 12 times that “earning”, which is exactly how a company is valued.
It’s a pretty rewarding exercise: Maximising market cap, creating income streams that are self supporting, and selling them to banks and other companies for “vast” multipliers of that income. It seems like a racket, but it’s how our systems work – and why these big fancy CEO’s get millions of dollars for maximising dividends (etc). A $100m dollar increase in profits can mean a billion dollar increase in “market cap”
Not to be detrimental to the above, but a $340,000 car only represents fractionally more than an ongoing annuity (perpituity) of around $30,000 per year at a 9% discounting factor.
Set up a few of those, and money ceases to become your core concern, and you can concentrate the rest of your life - be that bringing value to your family, or bring value to other sectors of your community.
Cheers,

The first paragraph should have been:
My motivation is the satisfaction of providing people things more cheaply than they could have done so themselves – and splitting the difference.

OKay, the only reason right now that i need and want money is so that i can pay for my grandmother’s christmas gift, along with my cousin Christen. We need to earn at least $400 each by december and it is already August and all tht i have is $200 half of which is going to the vacation tht the whole family will be going on in two weeks! so wat i basically need is a miracle!

When I started to actually earn a lot of money as an internet direct sales marketer I was compelled to begin asking myself questions I had not really considered before.
What is the good life?
What is the purpose of prosperity?
I realized that my mission was to teach the skills to help people become financially free not so they can buy yachts and racing cars, but so they can have the time to make a difference in this world.
I am moved to political action now because it is possible for me to be dedicated to real, meaningful passions.
Charity work,
teaching,
Making art and music.
The goal for me in becoming prosperous is to make a major contribution to society. To do that it is of great use to be unconcerned with payingthe bills, as I now am. I can teach anybody to be financially free - but I alos stress that getting rich just makes us more of who we are:
The greedy and selfish become more so as they accumulate wealth. Liars become bigger liars. Users become bigger users.
The generous become more so. The virtuous become more so.
The law of attraction in action. We create our own world.
And my world is Beautiful.
