What does one need to be happy?
It is quite strange that the things I thought would make me happy are not doing so. That sucks.

People are designed to always be on the cusp of happiness.
That is, to wonder, and fear, the little bit extra that they could be doing, or do not know.
This is how we’ve survived as a species (sorry InteliD people out there).
We have to keep looking for what might just make us that bit happier, wealthier, wiser, and more attractive to our social circle.
So happiness is based in your interaction with other people - and YOUR happiness will depend on how you wish others to feel about you, etc.
It’s all a bit simple and biological, and definitely dependent on the individual, but it needn’t be that complicated!
The trouble comes when one thinks that a derived demand (such as happiness) is direct and consistently correlated to factors of said derived demand.
That’s why 3 cars don’t make you 3x’s as happy as one car. unless your function of cars is exponential, or at least linear - in which case, there are free lunches in the world!

happiness is only realised in retrospect. Looking back on a long life, happy times are the least expected love of family and friends are the true happiness.
