Force India
I don’t think I feel proud to see a F1 team named after India. The problem is that the team is unlikely to score many points next season and the team India as it is being called is going to be placed way down the order.
Now that would not make me feel much better.
Also, what gives them the right to name the team after India? Of course it is now partially owned by an Indian. But it DOES not represent India. Little technology in the car is likely to be Indian. An Indian is unlikely to be driving it.
Calling it Force India is going to be like the Indian Cricket Team which is essentially representing BCCI and not India.

Dhruv,
“Also, what gives them the right to name the team after India? Of course it is now partially owned by an Indian. But it DOES not represent India. Little technology in the car is likely to be Indian. An Indian is unlikely to be driving it.”
You need rest, past bedtime and all.

and one more thing..
If mallya market his brand with F1 by naming Force india than whats problem..
BCCI or IHA doesnt do ny charity by naming it to indian cric or hockey team..
November 20th, 2007 at 05:31 am
what do u mean by u wont feel better if it is back of grid..
does our indian team win every time..does hockey team win every time.
we should be proud that atleast someone made debut for india in F1…
we should cherish it.
this is hypocrisy that if team is leading than we can call force india..coz than only we will feel better..
comon..

I mind them using the word india in a similar fashion to how BCCI uses the term Indian Cricket Team.
It is owned by a private company. Does not represent India in any ways other than the money being spent on it which obviously comes from Liqueur.
November 20th, 2007 at 06:14 am
well the way BCCI represent Indaiateam as Indian cricket team..
Dr. Vijay mallya used Force India…whats difference…
November 20th, 2007 at 06:21 am
BCCI works as a private body. It clearly said in a statement in the courts that the so called INDIAN CRICKET TEAM represent BCCI and not India so they are not answerable to the government or public.
November 20th, 2007 at 06:23 am
well forget about courts..think logically INDIAN means indian people…and representing INDIA..means representing INDIAN people…
and ya if court or goverment have problem than they will object to it…
but i was oppose to ur logic of why not to use Force india..u said coz whole year they will be in back of grid…well this is the thing which i didnt like..
and ya about name…if name of team is INDIAN FORCE is it ok with u??
November 20th, 2007 at 06:26 am
if they represent the indian people. they have to be accountable to indian people.
i do not like the use of India in the name Force India. That’s it. If you do not like it… I really cannot help you with it.
November 20th, 2007 at 06:28 am
well i just asked u one thing tell me difference between INDIAN FORCE And FORCE INDIA…in which way they dont represent india???
comon man if u can accept indian cricket and hockey team than u should also accept force india..
moroever in any event like WC its said TEAM INDIA…
November 20th, 2007 at 06:32 am
i would not like an indian cricket team which would have NO players from India.
perhaps this point would make a sense to you!
the team would have no indian driver. the team is unlikely to have any indian engineering…
there is nothing indian in it except for the daaru money!
November 20th, 2007 at 06:39 am
well now u have changed ur original point…firstly u said u didnt like force india coz it would run from back of the grid and now u say they dont have ny indian in it..well i will tell u what they have
by this vijay mallya would be marketting his airlines and beer..that too outside india…and this is bring revenue to him..and ya also job generation…
Talking about no indian driver..well there will be indian manager which is biggest of all..
Talking about Indian cricket or hockey team..they had Foreign coaches..What about that than?….
November 20th, 2007 at 06:56 am
umm i think the post talks about all these points…
mallya is going to market his OWN company through this team.
it’s funny that you think that owning a formula-1 team is going to generate jobs in india.
indian managers? more like indian financiers. a team manager is one who knows how to run a formula-1 team. putting in money is the job of the financier.
coaches? i am talking about drivers here. drivers in f1 = players in cricket/hockey.
i am repeating my original point for the last time here. force india has nothing indian in it except for the money that is generated through liqueur. the team name should have included mallya’s own brand of company names and not india. that’s it.
November 20th, 2007 at 07:02 am
what..well do u know nything about marketing..
Through F1 Mallya will earn reputation for kingfisher airlines and beer..
For your kind info Kingfisher is going international…it will earn reputation and will earn more revenues..More revenues more buisness and more buisness means more job generation.
And even if there is nothing of renvenues than what cricket and hockey gave by using that name??..
Whats wrong if he is marketting his own brand..he has money and he can do it..
and secondly if u read ur original post and the last post u will undstd how u changed ur stand…
November 20th, 2007 at 07:07 am
my stand? did you even read the BLOG POST fully?
and how is mallya marketing his own brand by not naming the team after kingfisher or UB?
i am pretty sure that mr. mallya is very patriotic. he used the name India in the team name. baffles me. even more when he is not going to take the risk by taking chandok and narain as the drivers. if that was the case, force india would have been a perfect name for the team.
November 20th, 2007 at 07:19 am
I guess u have not read and unstd ur post properly..
in where does ur post u say that Dr. mallya named it for his marketting and so that u dont like force india..
u said that
“I don’t think I feel proud to see a F1 team named after India. The problem is that the team is unlikely to score many points next season and the team India as it is being called is going to be placed way down the order.
Now that would not make me feel much better.”
You now urself read it.and tell..
man i dont know why its so hard for u to accept the fact that u differed from original post

What will really make F1 more accessible, naming a team aside, is an international race track in India.
When you can go see a race live, that truly will announce to the world, we have our own circuit, and we have earned our position in the world. Not merely, by purchasing a foreign crew/ team and naming it India.
