Very little chance to see iPhone officially in India before 2009. Late last year could be a possibility…

With Apple now collaborating with Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance, it looks like we are unlikely to see it on Reliance. Vodafone seems like a good possibility.

There IS a possibility that Reliance will launch the iphone with their new GSM services. This might be huger than we think too. Asia is the ONLY stronghold of Windows Mobile smartpphones, and no amount of blackberrys or whatever have been able to change that. Will the iphone convert non smartphone users?
    I dunno.

iPhone will not be released in India with any service provider. Already the sales number shows a lot of these handsets missing translating that it has sold a hell a lot of unlocked phones.
I expect Apple releasing unlocked iPhones like in france and germany, but they do have locked service providers.
As time wears off Apple will achieve a strong sales in its Mac pipeline(growin very fast) and would want to make a strong presence internationally. Then we could see
    something tangible in Indian market.
Locking phones is not a good model in india as the call tariffs are bloody cheap.

    SIR,

I purchased the I pod at Singapore Mustafa, Singapore in 26th Dec’07
The I-POD is 4 GB -NANO.Now it is not working. I gave th I-POD to
M/s.Suntrek, Anna Nagar, Chennai who is your authorised dealer. I was
told that he will replace the set. But to my surprise, on 11.03.08, he called
me and told that the set cannot be replaced since it is damaged.

I have bought the set only before 3 months and it cannot be replaced
which is within the warrenty period.it spoils the image of the product and
    company.

Hence I request you to kindly arrange to replace the set .

An early action in this regard is highly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Yours Faithfully,

Apple computers cost so much extra than what they do in the USA.
Anyody can tell me if I buy a G5 and a 23″ cinema display in USA and send it here though DHL (or something), what are the overheads (like customs tax etc)?

And how much extra do i have to pay…(a g5 costs Rs 46000/- extra in India than in USA through retailers or through online store).
