Airtel, Vodafone… Bring iPhone to India
Airtel has already launched the HTC Touch in the Indian market. It is priced at around Rs. 20,000 which makes it a sad deal for the customer.
If they can get into a deal with HTC to sell their Touch in India for USD 500, they surely can collaborate with Apple to bring the iPhone in India for like Rs. 30,000?
I am pretty sure that if Nokia can get customers for their N95 in India, Airtel would be able to sell the iPhone in India for Apple for around that price point.
If not Airtel, Reliance surely has the network and the financial backing to get Apple to develop a version of the iPhone to work in India.
God damn it… If they cannot bring the iPhone in India before 2009, I would go and get myself the iPod Touch.

I already OWN an iPHONE in Bangalore, INDIA. I got it from US, cracked it, and i’m using it on the Hutch network.
The UI is good enough.. intuitive, and requires almost prior knowledge.
Haven’t really used edge, cos i use WiFi at home.
otherwise, its good enough. Also installed many 3rd party applications, and they make good use of the awesome processor and UI feedback speed.
i got the 8Gb one from US for 399$, and apple recently commented that the prices for iphones wont go down any further.

Its always not a good idea to use the unlocked iphone besides Apple has itself clarified recently that its future updates can cause serious damage to those unlocked iphones. AND its clearly mentioned that an unlock attempt will void its warranty.
So my advise would be to wait for 2-3 months, the genuin brand new iphone will come in search of you!!

I am using an iPhone with a Vodafone SIM from Nov 5th. However last week I did a serious mistake of updating it with v1.1.2 and the phone became a brick. I mean the iphone which has been bought recently in no way it can be unlocked because apple has already patched all the bugs.
Hackers are waiting for the release of v1.1.3 so as to get the bootloader seczone and possibly will be able to software unlock iphone, but now it can be unlocked using stealthsim, turbosim perfectly.
Turbosim and stealthsim are hardware unlock, but to do that one has to first jailbreak the iphone.
Jailbreak is a a tricky process and many have not been successful with that.
People with 1.1.2 iphone a re waiting for software unlock release, so till that time pls dont fall prey to anyone who says he can unlock latest iphone.
I have 2 pcs of jailbreaked iphone which I want to sell off.
I can ship it in any part of india using dhl.

Yup..It can be unlocked..I myself have seen people in Delhi do it but it does have a big risk indeed. Im happy with my current 1.0.2 version as it does allow a lot of freedom for developers

Best decision would be is to buy a phone out of the box 1.1.2 version and then upgrade it 1.1.3 through various hacks available. How to find out if it is 1.1.2 version is to check the serial number on the box 4th and 5th digit week of assembly of the unit and they should be between 45 and 54. Do not buy the phone in Apple store buy it at AT and T. If you cannot find it, I can provide you with an unlocked phone for 650 dollars with turbosim with STK support. I am a student who makes money buy selling iphones and electronics without doing a part time job. Currently I request every one to stick to 1.1.2 do not upgrade you will loose lot of good application for a meager benefit .

The older version of summer board doesnot work, check out the new version for summer board has been released for 1.1.3.
You can find and install the latest Summerboard version 3.1-1 from Installer. Just go to sources and refresh to see the new version! Summerboard is located in the System Category.

Any iphone can be unlocked, but currently only up to 1.1.2 out of the box and it cannot be totally unlocked by software. If you have purchased it I can help you to unlock,please contact me, you can find my email in one of those posts. Please read my other posts to get a better idea

I can help as long as you did not update your phone to 1.1.3 using itunes. Modem firmware you quoted uses 4.6 Bootloader. You can unlock it but, to use it as a mobile device you need a sim unlock, you need a turbosim to unlock. I can provide you with a help to unlock it for free, I can also provide you with the sim but this for a price because I need to buy it form some one. Do not try hardware unlock which some people in India do it. You can find my mail in some of my recent posts.

Unlocked version in states costs you 600 dollars , this includes, hey you dont know that your 1.1.2 summer board does not work for 1.1.3 and you are teaching me about hacks that is funny, I offered to unlock for free for any one who need it, that is not freaking business. Great it will be unlocked but you have to use it as a glorified ipod touch and not as a phone , for your information there is no new bootloader there it is new modem firmware 04.03.13 boot loader is still 4.6 it is not something new. we should try to help people rather not mislead. Just show me proof that you can bringback phone functionality on ipone updated through itunes especially ones with 1.1.2 OTB, the terminal thing is only for the phones with bootloader 3.9 my friend so please do not mislead people .
Hey Junaid I am talking about the phones which come with bootloader 4.6 all the new ones, you are talking about the old phones which come with bootloader 3.9, all phones after november 2007 come with bootloader 4.6.
You are 100% right with the phones with bootloader 3.9 and you are 100% wrong about the new out of the box phones with bootloader 4.6 all of these phones need sim unlock. Just do little more research
You started the argument with some one who was trying to help people, I do not have to argue with you to prove my point, I would say give proper guidance, I did oblige any one to buy phone from me ok. And please do not tell people that there is a software unlock for phones with bootloader 4.6. It is a small program that detects IMSCI of the sim. so you will need turbosim for sure to unlock it or you have opened the phone case to unlock it.

Best decision would be is to buy a phone out of the box 1.1.2 version and then upgrade it 1.1.3 through various hacks available. How to find out if it is 1.1.2 version is to check the serial number on the box 4th and 5th digit week of assembly of the unit and they should be between 45 and 54. Do not buy the phone in Apple store buy it at AT and T. If you cannot find it, I can provide you with an unlocked phone for 650 dollars with turbosim with STK support. The older version of summer board doesnot work, check out the new version for summer board has been released for 1.1.3.
You can find and install the latest Summerboard version 3.1-1 from Installer. Just go to sources and refresh to see the new version! Summerboard is located in the System Category.

I am sure you cannot completely software unlock 1.1.2 with bootloader 4.6 , I have been doing extensive research on it,because I too would like to use my sim without turbosim or stealth sim, bootloader is a program that recognises IMSCI code which is carrier specific and turbosim mimics it and let the phone operate, people are working hard find this Algorithim you will know if you are a mobile protocol tester, every one is working hard to find it but it is not that easy as many hackers say. No worries need help, mail I will help you, you dont have to buy iphone from it is 426 with tax not 400. If it is new then legally you have to pay customs too.

yeah I know about the hardware unlock, you will loose the warranty if something happens to your phone. In software program you can just restore your pohone using itunes and install old firmware and give it back for the repair. I am in states , I know we do not have apple stores in India

I can help as long as you did not update your phone to 1.1.3 using itunes. Modem firmware you quoted uses 4.6 Bootloader. You can unlock it but, to use it as a mobile device you need a sim unlock, you need a turbosim to unlock. I can provide you with a help to unlock it for free, I can also provide you with the sim but this for a price because I need to buy it form some one. I am sure he still has time to return it, there are many places you can go and find 1.1.2, he has 14 days after he purchased to return it. I would like to know the serial number of the phone before you can return it. I unlocked the iphone using the ZIPHONE software,But after unloking I am facing some problems.The Iphone is not ringing /vibrating when there is a incoming call.The caller can listen the Calling tune (TRING TRING),but there is no response from iphone.I can see a loading LOGO appering in iphone when incoming call is going on,and that time i cant oparate any application of iphone.Seems the iphone gets hanged that time.After the call is over the iphone again comes back to its normal position.
Please suggest some solution to this.

I have iphone 8gp and i able to use edge in Himachal because i airtel customer care service and when i was in Karnataka they couldn’t gave edge settings so any one have any idea using airtel edge with iphone 8gp.

iPhone lover, I recently moved from Vodafone to Airtel and though it was a nightmare getting GPRS activated, it works like a charm on the iPhone. just put in airtelgprs.com as your APN. Check out the blog for screenshots and more details. Just make sure you call airtel and tell them to activate Mobile Office/GPRS. If they ask what phone you’re using, don’t tell them it’s the iPhone because they don’t officially support it … yet!

Please i am not able to do outging calls from my mobile for Prepaid Airtel.Its working for Vodafone and for others. Please let me knw the issue in this.
My iPhone has got an inner crack (Not on the Outer case but guess in LCD) as it was dropped on a concrete floor. Now Everything seems to be workign fine, but the screen is not visible very well.
