Formula-1 : Jordan and Narain Karthikeyan
Well, if you think I am excited about the news… You are wrong. I am happy that an Indian made it through to the Formula-1 circuit finally (and way sooner than I expected!)… There are bigger problems with Narain Karthikeyan driving for Jordan in Formula-1. For me I mean…
First. The media would make it a monstrous event when he would drive his first race in Melbourne. Than when he would fail to complete the race (totally my prediction… and I am a jackass), everyone would be disappointed. We Indians excel at writing people off. We all know he is not going to reach podium in a Jordan leave alone winning races.
And since it is Formula-1 and not Formula Maruti, I doubt many cameras will be tracking the position of Narain when they would have Michael Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen to catch. Of course, there would be special emphasis from the local commentator team related to Narain’s performance.
This brings me to another point… Star Sports would end up bringing in Hindi Commentators for the benefits of the Indian Crowd the event is expected to gather. Most people do not actually understand what Formula-1 is and how it works… it would be a pain in the ass to see how Star Sports and ESPN handle this extra responsibility…
I just hope Chris Goodwin and Steve Slater would be handling the F1 races on television…
