Bajaj Pulsar 200 Fuel Tank Problem?

It is raining in Gurgaon. And when I went to get some gas for the Pulsar 200 bike I noticed that there was a lot of water inside the fuel cap around the tank.

Now, I am not sure if this is a good thing to happen or this is common with all Bajaj bikes with the funky looking fuel tank cap. But it certainly does not like good to me.

yeah guys i m from last 7 years wid my pulsar i loved it very much i agree wid u i hav also a 150cc pulsar once i n at dharamsala (himachal) i was there for 8 days that was the rainy season i was staying in hotel so my pulsar parked at hotel parking for 8 days on 9th day i m unable to start my pulsar whn i call a local mechanics he pour about 700ml. water from fuel tank i shocked i hav lost my 600.00rs + 8lt. of fuel.................but really in whole the pulsar only fuel cap is the disadvantage ......................................... other wise it rocks the road nd the whole world

Hi Yes you are correct,That really great you addressed this problem.. the design need to be changed, do any one have email id of Pulsar design engineer. we need to make him awake. actually all pulsars have this problem. its true. water goes inside and all engine fails resulting in heavy loss of min Rs 5000 ..
Now for remedy we need to keep the cluck wire inside the vent hole. so when we open the petrol flap and if water is collected we need to make the wire movement" up and down" so that the water drains ..Please tell your friends too about it ..

Pulsar is disappointing :( I have 180 cc and it's not fun anymore. Fuel gauge doesn't work right, chain needs too much of sound when vehicle moves, pick up has reduced etc.... I would never in my life go for Bajaj once again they suck big time

mates...I think u dint read out my previous post...
the water prob can b solved by jst cleaning n straightenin the pipe...
but, i also agree with the point that the quality of lids aint fyn...
the locking gets problemsome...extra force is required 2 close the lid....

Fuel tank lid is not good, lock is also not good , fuel gauge doesnt work, for years, of my pulsar 150. company changing models not bothered about quality, so want think for buying a bajaj bike!!!!!!

No re-sale of bike in kerala!!!!

I faced this problem with my Pulsar 220... I had to park in the rain overnight, and the bike would not start. The guy from showroom came and checked, and removed over 1 LITER of water from the tank!! 3 days, 250/- bucks and 4 liters of petrol later my bike is now working again... :(

Yes this is a prob particularly with Pulsar. If you dont park ur bike under a shed then everytime it rains you will have to get the fuel tank cleaned up and emptied coz water gets mixed up with petrol. Better go for a petrol tank cover or something to save urself from this prob.

mates...just open lid f d tank n c...
there is an outlet for water...
if water is stagnant on the lid..just go 2 service centre n ask them 2 clean the pipe...
ol it takes is half a minute...n yeah pulsar200 is the best byk mate....

This is pretty usual with bajaj bikes......even I m facing the same problem wid my wind125!!

There is a drain tube going to the bottom of the tank from the recess of the lid cap. As you said, the fuel tube is not the only tube....spent some time with your bike.

Hey HAMMER HEAD. Or should i call you a scientist? what i wrote is that the air exchange hole is EXPOSED outside through which there are chances that dust, water etc enters inside. You will have air exchange holes to any fuel tanks, let it be a bike, car, a bus or a aeroplane to avoid vaccum building up inside the tanks which will prevent the fuel to flow to the carb or injectors, any further. i did not mention whether its required/not required. But the point is, it is EXPOSED straight up to the atmosphere even after the lid is closed on a pulsar.

SOME BASIC ENGLISH UNDERSTANDING IS WHAT "YOU NEED" ELSE STOP WRITING COMMENTS.

Dear Bug B,

for your information, there are basically no drain tubes for petrol tanks. The only tube is the one which delivers fuel to carburettor or fuel injector. Apart from this you will have breather/overflow tubes for your gear box, battery and carburettor. I hope this is clear.

Thanks n regards,

Menas Ahmed

"you could see the air exchange hole exposed even if the cap is closed" --- The air exchange hole is required to be exposed always, if you close that no fuel will come out of tank! Some basic science is what you need else drive rickshaw

you guys are such cry babies!!! therz a water outlet pipe from the tank to the base of the bike...all u have to do is straighten the pipe out!!! and the water flows straight out and not Choked!!

Even i had the same problem when i buyed pulsar 200 a one and a half month back...but then on my first service i told the mechanics about the problem, they cleaned fuel cap (and the drain hole whereever it is) and now i have not faced the problem since then...

Ya.... i have also the same problem in past monsoon...
but not only that... the water get mixed in petrol inside...
and the carburetor gets choked...

To much headache :(

Hi,

I told this on Day1. the fuel cap packing is not good. It aint good on any bajaj. Check out the quality of the cap on the new unicorns. Its sealed perfect with good air exchange. For pulsars, if you view the cap exactly from top, you could see the air exchange hole exposed even if the cap is closed. Now that what i call Build Quality. Hurray to bajaj... they maintain the same quality of thier autorickshaws.

Certainly doesn't look good. It doesn't take rocket science to figure out what would happen in speed-breakers when all that water would seep inside your fuel tank, mixing with the precious petrol...
