APC UPS in Indian Conditions

Update: THE WORST UPS YOU CAN BUY IF YOU ARE IN INDIA.

I have experienced it and Brian has just confirmed it. The UPS system from APC specializes in disconnecting the power supply (due to fluctuation I guess) when the power comes back! Not when the power goes…

He also notices the random shut downs of the UPS which happens for no apparent reason. Some American technology this is! Even when they are making the UPS systems in India now, they have not learnt from the Indian conditions.

  1. And I had mine replaced in a month (must say they didn’t make a fuss about replacing it), the replacement was not much better, so that makes three crap APC UPS systems.

If you’re running on the battery, there is no warning that it’s running low on power, one moment it’s beeping at it’s constant rate, the next moment it’s off and flashing red.

And sometimes when it’s drawing power from my house inverter, it just goes off - it isn’t even running on it’s internal battery and it just shuts off. WTF?

One of the main reasons I got one was to keep my modem / router online when the power goes on and off (inverter is not fast enough) - but no, when the power comes back on, the modem resets without fail.

    Yay for APC!

Hey yeah, the modem is sensitive enough and shuts off for me too, I have the same model in the pic.

Before this I had a 2-yr old (same) model which was made in singapore and that one didnt reset the modem, although it would click like crazy with the inverter…

My current one (which I got just a week ago) works good with the inverter though, and I hope I dont get the random shut offs mentioned in the post…
