Use Skype for file transfer on Ubuntu

Microsoft does not have a MSN Messenger version for Linux. Yahoo Messenger for Linux apparently sucks. Google Talk too does not work on Linux. So for file transfers to your friends… Use Skype!

Apparently Pidgin’s file transfer is buggy too… Pando does not have a Linux version as well… :(

It’s weird that Skype seems to be the only mainstream IM application that keeps an updated Linux version.

Nope….not an updated version. Sorry. Linux port lags behind Windows by many notches. Still, that is some saving grace.

I’d prefer to use Gizmo for online VoIP because it’s based on Open SIP standards. Just like the Wengo Phone. Skype sucks that way.

Why not install Wine and run windows apps through it? Or look ay synaptic or aptitude (as Ubuntu is a debian based distro, it should have these) and see what linux chat clients there are that can do file transfers.
